Car description

Up for auction is a numbers matching 1964 Studebaker Daytona Hardtop. 1 of 74 R1 Daytona hardtops built in 1964. Of those 74, this car is one of 21 that were built as non-package cars with powershift transmission. Of the 74 built there are approximately 15 cars that are known to survive.

Included with the R1 engine on this car:- 160 MPH speedometer- Dana 44 rear end- Finned drum brakes (rear)- Viscous drive fan- Dual exhaust- Tachometer- Chrome engine parts- Rear axle radius rods- Rear stabilizer bar- R1 fender emblems
Additional options that this car is equipped with are:
-Twin Traction- Disc brakes- Reclining bucket seats- Power steering- AM/FM Radio (This is a rare option)

EngineThe engine is stuck as has been since before I purchased it. At some point in the past the starter was removed and misplaced. The starter ring gear is also missing a few teeth. Otherwise the engine is all original and numbers matching. The correct carburetor is also still present.

BodyIt appears to be a well taken care of car, but it has suffered the effects of spending its life in the Upper Midwest. The floors, rockers and trunk corners will need to replaced, fortunately those parts are still available. The front fenders will also need to be replaced and a NOS pair of fenders is included with the car. There is dent in the roof of the car and three small holes at the bottom of the rear window near the trunk. The door bottoms have surface rust, but no rust through.

InteriorThe interior is complete and in good driver quality condition. The drivers seat has one tear on the seat bottom, but that is the only tear in any off the seats. The dash is in good condition and only has one small crack near the speaker. The headliner doesn't have any tears or holes, but is dirty and needs to be cleaned. The original carpet is present, but will need to be replaced.
Rear EndThe original twin traction Dana 44 rear is still in the car, the ratio is 3.31:1. The car also has traction bars and a rear sway bar.

Brakes
The brakes do not operate and the front calipers are in the trunk of the car.
GlassThere is one rock chip in the windshield, but otherwise the glass is in good condition.
