Car description

GET YOUR MALCOLM X ON!! A-Body, WD Rear Wheel Drive, coveted 225 Slant 6 cylinder; reputed to be unstoppable, speed automatic. UNKNOWN ACTUAL miles somewhere near 80k (odometer currently reads 84,728.5, suspect is roughly correct [car sat 3-5 years, ust prior to my purchasing it, nd many parts at underside were affected, and failed as a result of sitting idle]). Here is the strange part about that; I can't explain it, aybe you can...: When I bought it, confirmed odometer reading of approximately 78,000 miles (which is represented as actual miles on my title, s a result). I drove it approximately 500 miles since about 3 weeks ago; and realized after a couple hundred of those miles that odometer was at current (84k) reading above; though has not moved again since. I suspect that perhaps there was some tension built up in apparatus, nd odometer "sprung" forward when something let go; just a theory. For all I know, eading will change randomly, s driven more... I bought this as a project car, ut my daily driver blew engine, ame day I picked this up; so it has reluctantly become my current daily driver. (I HAVE NO FORMAL TRAINING, AND DO NOT CLAIM TO BE A QUALIFIED AUTO MECHANIC). To get it basically going, sprayed carburetor with cleaner/starting fluid, eplaced several brake lines (my first time doing so, ver; so functional, ut not necessarily pretty), uel & air filters, istributor cap/rotor, installed new battery, new fan/alternator belt, ropped & repaired leaking gas tank, epaired tail pipe with sleeves/clamps. Has clean NJ title (UNTIL NOW, BELIEVE IT WAS ALWAYS REGISTERED IN VIRGINIA, HERE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED, ND WHERE I PICKED IT UP FROM), uns and drives fairly well. NO MAJOR ISSUES WITH MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION. ONLY SELLING BECAUSE NEED A MORE APPROPRIATE VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN IN, TC. DESCRIPTION INCLUDES ALL DETAILS THAT I AM AWARE OF REGARDING ANY ISSUES. SEE PICTURES, SK ALL QUESTIONS. Cosmetically is very decent, ice straight lines, ut some small dents & dings here & there. Was told that never any major accidents; but there was obviously some sort of work on right rear quarter panel, s there is paint variation blended at that location. Otherwise, vidence of minor "parking lot" mishaps at both bumpers. Pretty much everything works (not AM radio; has no speaker, or back-up lights [suspect needs reverse/neutral switch {which may affect starting, ore on that below}; easy fix]). 1 light bulb, nd dome are missing for interior dome light, therwise dome light stays on all the time... Passenger side, ear door does not latch, nd driver's side rear door does not open (so it's nicely balanced!). Tires have great tread, nd hold air, ut evidence of surface cracks where sat flat in mud for many years on most, f not all; full size spare leaks (spare that was in trunk all that time is now on car (no apparent cracks), nd one of the ones that was mounted is now in trunk as spare). Original jack is included, ut has no base, o tire iron. Interior has issues: No headliner, o carpet in front, racked dashboard pad, ench seats faded & torn, window handle and same door armrest are missing, nterior of glove box missing, ssues with some of the interior of doors mechanics for windows, oor latches, oses from heater to defroster, tc missing. I believe all gauges and idiot lights work; OTHER THAN ODOMETER & SPEEDOMETER. There is a good sized rusted-through hole in driver's floor pan, nd a smaller one on passenger side. Otherwise, eems to have no major rust on underside, frame, r elsewhere; was originally under-coated from factory. Various water leakage through glazing (and door glass has basically no to nil weatherstripping anymore). All glass is intact, ith only noteworthy issues being in front windshield: a couple very small scratches/marks that do not seem to come off, nd one round "shot-with-B.B.-Gun"-like inclusion, bout the size of a quarter. Windshield wipers work in both speeds, ut seem to need adjustment, s they stop about 1/3 of the way up the windshield; and can be pushed back down to proper settling position. Car starts on first try consistently, xcept, t times, RNDL shift arm needs to be wiggled/moved to engage starter (Again, 'm not a mechanic, ut believe this my have to do with failing reverse/neutral switch at transmission, asily replaceable). I was actually surprised at how easily car started initially, fter sitting so long... Headlights work in low & high beams, ut do have water in them (tempted to put goldfish in them...). Trunk leaks water; weatherstrip is compromised a bit, nd small rusted hole in "track". You can literally fit the entire Nevada desert in the trunk! Engine runs well, nd doesn't stall, hough probably needs minor tune-up (I made no adjustments whatsoever), ranny (Not Kait Lynn) shifts as it should with no signs of slipping. Emergency brake cable was broken and I just repaired it, urrently working. 1 bleeder valve on passenger front brake broke off (closed position), nd cannot be bled without replacement, nd brakes DO NEED bleeding (at least). Car stops well, ut makes me nervous, onsidering I have not physically looked at brakes, nd it pulls pretty severely to left when braking rapidly (I suspect this is because I could not bleed other side). Emergency brake currently working with DIY repair (3/16" steel cable with clamps). Oil is full, ooks clean, nd apparently car does not burn oil; however it does leak a little oil from valve cover gasket. Otherwise, eems to have no other motor/transmission fluid leakage currently (I have not filled gas tank since repair, owever, id fill it above where had been leaking prior; and there is no longer a smell of gasoline, hereas there had been prior). It does lose brake fluid to front brakes over time, ot sure from where... Suspension feels good/solid. I am reluctant to have you test-drive it, n current state (nerve-racking), ut perhaps you can witness me test drive it.
