Car description

You are bidding on a 1969 Opel GT that is in original, unmodified and unmolested condition with only 34,000 original miles on it. I am the 3rd owner of this car. The first owner was a Buick/Opel dealer in North Carolina who ended up keeping this car from his dealership for his wife. He owned it from 1969 until he died and his estate was settled a couple years ago. His neighbor bought it from the estate in 2015. The neighbor kept it in his garage for 2 years, then sold it to me.
This car has not been on the road for at least 15 years. Its original color was the very desirable silver, as can be seen where some of the red paint has flaked off, and the interior is all original in red. There were apparently very few Opel GTs with red interior, as most had black interiors. The interior on this one is very nice. There is one place near the top of the driver's headrest about 6 inches long where the thread has broken on the seam, but there are no tears anywhere and the seats and they are still quite supple. The door panels and dash are in very good condition too with just a few hairline cracks in the top of the dash pad that would barely be noticed unless someone were to restore this car to show condition.
The body and chassis are in very good condition with no rust anywhere that I could see underneath. Any rust holes that exist on this car can be seen in the pictures -- specifically, there is a small rust hole in the front of the driver's side rocker panel and in the rear of the passenger's side rocker panel. The floors have no rust anywhere that I could see, top or bottom. The rust you see in the pictures on the hood and tops of the fenders is all light surface rust from having a blanket laying on the car in the first owner's garage for several years. When sighting down the sides of the car, you will see no dings, dents, or repaired areas. All the panels look smooth from front to rear and they fit nicely together too. Even the front apron panel is very nice, with just a couple scratches along the bottom. I don't think I've ever seen an unrestored Opel GT with a complete, intact, front apron like this.
I don't know if the engine will turn over because I haven't tried it. I'm sure it will need to be dismantled and cleaned, at the very least, before trying to start it.
I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish.Buyer will be given a Bill of Saleand the North Carolina Title I received when I bought the car last year.)
