Car description

Here it is, the Holy Grail of Scouts. A bit tarnished, but in restorable condition. 1977 SSII Baja Cruiser in Siam Yellow. Per the Scout Encyclopedia, 783 SSIIs were made in 1977. Then slice out the number of Baja Cruisers, then slice out the number of Siam Yellow and you'll see how unique and rare this Scout truly is. If you follow Scouts, you know one identical to this sold last year for $79k at auction...fully restored of course.
This Scout was found on a piece of land, along with other trucks, that was recently purchased. The previous landowner didn't want any of the trucks. I bought it from the new landowner so I don't know any history at all on the truck. However, I've done a bit of detective work.
MILEAGE: The odometer shows 27k miles. I believe it's truly 27k, but of course cannot prove it. Here's why. I HAVE 5 FACTORY WHEELS AND 5 GOODYEAR TRACKERS.First off, it had 4 Goodyear Trackers on it when I bought it, along with a spare. As you know, those are the tires that came on the truck when new. (I put two rollers on the front for the pictures since the tires were flat.) I've posted pictures of the front tires. The DOT date code on the tire ends in 7. Back then, they used a one digit year so it's either 77 or 87. The likelihood of them replacing the tires in 87 is certainly possible but seems unlikely. i'll put two rollers on the factory wheels before it's picked up.
ENGINE:Look at the picture of the battery tray. Surface rust only. Look at the ground cable. Original. It has the original IH heater hoses on it. I have not and will not try to start it. It's been sitting. The oil needs to be changed, the oil pump primed, and MMO soaked in the cylinders. The plastic conduit on the alternator lines looks pristine, not cracked at all.
BODY: It needs a full restoration. There are some holes in the driver's floor near the dimmer switch. It needs a passenger floor, likely both rockers, quarters (definitely passenger side) and rear bed area. Typical Scout rust. The SSII dust covers are both there on the uncracked dashpad. The outer panel on the driver's side insert has been spray painted but has a hole in it anyway where the soft door hinge would mount. The passenger side outer looks usable as does both inner panels. Look at the back seats. I believe that's how the seat belts came from the factory.
TOP & DOOR FRAMES:The top was stored inside the cab of another truck on the property. I've not tried to put it on or open it up to check it's condition. Depending on your intentions, you might replace it anyway but there's one there with the support bars. Both door frames I have. Both are rough. Neither side has the material on them.
LST:I've not received the LST back yet from WHS, but I'll post it when I get it. It has 3.54 axles, posi in the rear, 345.
MISC: The previous owner tried to get it into neutral, the cable is rusty and either the cable broke or where it connects to the shifter broke. Either way, it's stuck in park. To load, I can get under it and move the linkage out of park but you'll need a trailer with a winch. I do have chains and a 4wd and can pull it onto a trailer if needed. I do have two keys, both original IH stamped keys.
Bid to win. This is a very rare Scout. Does it need a full restoration...yes. Will you have a very nice, extremely rare Scout when you're done...Oh Yes. If you have any questions at all, my cell is 256-735-3745. My name is Derrick.
