Car description

1940 International Harvester D30The IHC runs and drives well. I've been using the truck to drive around town on the weekend and most recently have delivered wood chips to my parents house with it. The truck drives just like it should; like an old large truck. A previous owner added what I'm calling a 2-speed transfer case in an attempt to get it to drive faster. I've gotten the truck to the low 50's but am more comfortable driving it at about 40 mph. It has a clean title in the state of California and is registered as a 1941 International D30 with a commercial licence. The truck's nameplate suggests that it was actually built in 1940 (per the Wisconsin Historical Society's archived data). which is why I listed it as a 1940 above. Elelctrical and interior: The truck was converted at one point of its life to a 12 volt system. The head lights and added tail lights work. the right blinker works. the left blinker works occasionally (lose wire somewhere). the aftermarket backup lights work. the horn (although missing the horn cap on the steering wheel) works. and the heater box works. Both side windows are operable but the driver side window is cracked. The windshield opens up along with the manual air vent underneath the dashboard. There are electric windshield wipers. but they seem to work sporadically at best. The seat is fully covered with no major issues. There are no coverings on the floor and the headboard is missing (you can buy a new one on ebay). The glovebox is also missing (again. available new on ebay). All handles and knobs are in tact. The odometer doesn't work. so the mileage is unknown. The other gauges on the dashboard work with the exception of the oil pressure. which there is an aftermarket gauge installed under the dash near the glovebox. Exterior: The exterior sheet metal is in good condition. The only areas of concern for sheet metal are there is dent on the front right fender (see pictures) behind the bumper. and the passenger door has an imperfection at the bottom. The exterior paint is faded and chipped on hood where it opens to the engine compartment (see pictures) The metal trim pieces are all in tact and so are the door handles. Moving back to the flat bed. the frame doesn't have any major defect but could use some paint. The wood platform is functional but would look great with new wood. Lastly. the tires are in good shape. Recent work: The starter was rebuilt and converted to run on the 12 volt system. the carburetor was rebuilt. a new battery was purchased and installed. and a new OEM style muffler has been installed. Overall the truck runs and drives well. The truck is ready for a new home whether on a farm. used on the weekends for fun. the start of a restoration. or used in parades or a museum. Shipping/handling and arranging for shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer or is available for local pickup.
