Car description

You are bidding on a 1966 International cab over with a long history. I have been around to see it all. This old war dog started new as a cab over tractor hauling doubles over the NYS Thruway. Yes back then they actually did that with a 378 ci gasoline engine. She was in that service until the late 1970's. At that time it was taken out of service for a time while she had her frame stretched and a wrecker body built. She went back in service around 1982 as a tow truck with a completely rebuilt motor, ransmission, nd rear axle. Outfitted with a heavy diamond plate steel wrecker body and boom and sporting a pto powered 20 ton winch. There wasn't anything back then it couldn't move. It was only in light service for a couple years before it was parked where it now sits. When parked it ran like a top and was fully functional. I know because I was the only driver for those couple years and I parked it there. She just didn't have a job to do any more. Well enough of me and nostalgia. It's sitting in my yard and has to go. Here's the good and the bad. The good is that all the components were pretty fresh when parked. Probably under 20,000 miles. I don't know if the motor still turns or not but even if it needs a rebuild you have a very solid starting point. I'm absolutely sure about the five speed transmission being rock solid as well as the two speed rear axle. I can also think of no reason why the 20 ton winch couldn't be serviceable with some TLC. The cab interior is complete but the headliner has disintegrated and fallen down. All glass is good except the left windshield has a crack. This truck is a treasure trove of parts for anyone doing a restoration. The bad is that the cab has a lot of rust. Most of the tires are flat and she has sunk into the ground a bit. It is also in an odd position where it will have to be winched to get it out and on to a flatbed. She tips the scale at 15,000 pounds so it will take a bit to get it loaded on something. Of course having air brakes with no air the rear wheels are locked. I can assist by cutting the rods to release the brakes before pick up. Anything else required for removal will all be up to the buyer. I'm offering this truck as one unit with the hope that someone can use it. If nobody takes it she will be cut up for scrap and parted out in components. Not something I really want to do so there is no reserve on this auction. The starting bid is somewhere around what you would pay for the rear axle alone and probably less than it would fetch at the scrap yard. If you have any questions just ask. I'm more than happy to answer them. Just please don't ask me to start parting it out now. I want to give it a fair shot of going as one unit first. If you have a new Ebay account or have under 5 positive feedback contact me before bidding. Failure to do so will result in your bid being canceled. On Jul-20-15 at 10:39:31 PDT, eller added the following information:
