Car description

1931 Ford Model A Phaeton Convertible. This is a true survivor car that has been stored in a metal building for over 30 years. The fellow I purchased it from bought it from someone who imported it from Argentina in the early 1980's. They drove it into the guy's building then and there it sat unstarted and untouched until I bought it a few months ago.
The car is a right hand drive. Some Americans would want to switch it to left hand drive. I have owned other right hand drive vehicles and found them to be fun to drive. It doesn't take long to get comfortable shifting gears with your left arm. I did not intend to alter the steering when I bought this vehicle.
The green and black paint appears to be the second coat of paint and with a few very minor touch ups (or not !), the surface would be totally acceptable for the survivor car look. All of the steel in the body is in great condition with no major rust issues. The leather seats are all original and I think the top is too. I have not tried to put this top down and I'm not going to try doing it so I can't answer any questions about that. Again, I did not buy this car to restore. My intention was to drive it as is with only the minimal mechanical restorations.

The car has the correct motor with all matching serial numbers. The motor turns over but only has compression in one of the four cylinders. At some point in its mechanical history the manifold was plugged and the original updraft carb was altered to a downdraft model. This motor is not shot or ruined from sitting but would need to be rebuilt or replaced. I thought it would be fun to replace this motor with a late model 4 or 6 cylinder just for cruising to car shows and for summer jaunts with the top down.

I have learned that the 1931 Model A Phaeton convertible is a rare car because only around 4000 of them were manufactured. I was happy to learn that not because I intended to restore this car but because I think it is all the more reason to drive it just like it is.

Why am I selling this car? Well, I tried to buy it for over 20 years. One day I get a call saying it's for sale and I had first crack at it. I bought it. It was not cheap. So in spite of all my intentions to drive around in a survivor Model A convertible, the reality is that I already have more projects and collections in the works then I'll ever get completed and sorted out. Let someone else have a crack at it...
I have the clear Pennsylvania title in hand for a 1931 Ford convertible.
