In the art of Resto Modding, the 1969 Camaro consistently provides a coveted canvas to automotive artisans. This Van Nuys-born example known as Project "Cam-Manche" is the product of an extensive custom restoration performed by the expert technicians at CW Restorations in Huntington Beach, California. The body was stripped to its bare metal and finished in striking Glasurit Blue Pearl Metallic paint. The original bumpers were smoothed, a custom front valance was fabricated and a cowl hood was modified to accommodate a less-than-subtle air scoop. The air scoop itself is a massive spoiler alert that what lies beneath is anything but modest. The engine bay houses a balanced and blueprinted 383 stroker topped with an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger, and it is fed through MSD Atomic electronic fuel injection. The block is packed with upgraded internals, including a Comp Cams hydraulic camshaft, JE 9.5:1 pistons, a scat crank and Carrillo rods; a Griffin Performance aluminum radiator with dual fans maintains ideal temperature. Spent gases pass through Hedman headers and exit via Magnaflow mufflers. An estimated 550 HP gallops through a Bowler Performance 4L65E transmission to a 3.73:1-geared 12-bolt limited-slip differential. The stock front suspension was enhanced with Global West Suspension's tubular control arms and drop spindles, while Detroit Speed provided a Quadralink rear setup with mini-tubs. Superior stopping power is implemented by Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with 13-inch rotors in front and 11-inch in the rear. Corona Concepts of Yorba Linda, California, crafted a custom interior utilizing leather upholstery, Mercedes-Benz carpeting and carbon-fiber accents throughout. A Vintage Air unit provides reputable comfort to the cockpit area, while Auto Meter Pro Comp gauges yield the imperative read-outs. If the symphony of the stroker isn't enough, a custom stereo was installed with a Pioneer head unit, Orion amplifiers, Boston Acoustics drivers and a kicker subwoofer. Rolling on 19-inch HRE Performance 597R wheels wrapped in Nitto rubber, Project Cam-Manche took the world by storm when it made its triumphant debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, and it has since won the Top Camaro award at the GoodGuys Del Mar Fall Nationals and graced the pages of the February 2015 issue of "Chevy High Performance."
