Car description

NO RESERVE!!! The times force me to sell this wonderful little camper van. Only used her for about 18 months out here in the PNW to camp occasionally on the weekends. She is a GL originally with a z bed in the back, plenty of storage space and an incredible oversized sunroof to enjoy it all. She has been my weekender since I bought her, so she'll be easy to register, lights and blinkers and everything works as they should. The motor is a 2.1L so it has a little more pep in her step than most of the stock VWs. Little bit of surface rust here and there but I think the tone ads to the rugged character of the vehicle. She spent the majority of her life in the South West so all in all, rust is pretty minimal. It might be cool to do a cheap paint job to freshen up! There is a little bump in the body over the front left headlight, probably from someone getting a little too up close and comfy with a tree or something, but it's barely noticeable. The rest of the body is solid and has an oak vinyl floor to make for a rustic look and easy cleaning. I installed a hitch and a bike rack so you can haul more gear on your weekend getaway. The speakers could use some love but they work. I'm sure they were the bees knees in 1987 but they could certainly use a revamp here in 2020. No AC was offered in these in 87 but let’s talk about the heat. She has plenty of heat to offer with a front heater core and blower motor to keep you good and toasty on any cold winter day. Starts right up just fine in the winter with her bosch starter, newer fuel pump and updated fuel lines. She has been meticulously maintained by myself and by the mechanic owner before me. She's ready to be camped in, or even lived in! Mod this thing out with an exterior shower/interior toilet or get a gym membership. She's an old vehicle and there will always be things to improve so you should be into working on cars if you want a Volkswagen Vanagon, it's a labor of love keeping these beauties in working order. That said, I've babied this one, she runs like a top, and the manual transmission shifts smoothly. I can’t say I’ve had any issues with this other than sore cheeks from smiling so much on road trips. If I didn't have other obligations, I'd be living in this thing in the mountains or beach right now. Time to get after it!The engine is a workhorse and has been bulletproof, but of course it eats oil like most old VWs, I always keep an eye on the levels and fill as needed, keep up with routine maintenance, you'll be fine. MPG is somewhere between 16-18 on the highway but with a little love or soft foot, I’m sure you could get better. Try finding an RV or truck camper with that kind of gas mileage/maneuverability! Brakes feel good, tires are in great shape, and look at those Carat Wheels ads to the style of this van! Sold as is, where is. Fly out and drive it home! Or ship it. All questions before bidding please. This auction is listed locally as well, I reserve the right to end the auction up until the last 12 hours.
