1974 VW Volkswagen Camper Bus

1974 VW Camper BusYou are bidding on the start of one of the best 1974 VW Camper buses I have seen in a long time! I am selling this for a new customer but worked on this bus 9 or 10 years ago. Here is a brief background:The bus was purchased from Drew Garner, ouston, n January 2011 to be restored and used in my business. On the way to Galveston, bout 13 miles out, here was a mechanical issue and to avoid compounding the issue had the bus towed to the auto repair shop. Some mechanical repairs were completed and the bus was in excellent running condition before the restoration process began in May 2011. In preparation of the restore, local shop in Galveston which advertised "museum quality restoration" removed everything from the bus so that the body work and an inside/outside/undercoat paint job could easily be completed. The bus was towed to the body shop in Galveston to complete the work. The stipulation was bondo would be used only when absolutely necessary. Several months passed with little progress except manufacturing a new upper panel for the dashboard. The bus was towed to another body/paint shop in Galveston and the process began all over.After the body work and paint job was completed, he bus was towed to the original shop to re-install all the mechanical components and assist with some of the new components that were installed. New seals were installed throughout the bus and new parts installed interior and exterior. The louvered windows were disassembles, olished and restored with new rivets. Either new parts were installed or existing parts were restored. In June 2012 the bus was picked up and driven 20 miles down the road before it slowed to a stop.It was towed to the auto repair shop in Houston specializing in VWs. The shop continued to make excuses and delayed working on the bus and the issue remained an unknown until April 2015 when it was towed to Stratta Auto Repair in Bryan where a new battery was installed and it was identified there was no compression in the #3 cylinder. It was driven to The Bug Clinic in Bryan where is was confirmed an upper-end overall was required; the only unknown is whether it requires work on the cylinder heads or not. There is bubbling in the paint since the repaint and I have included those in the pictures.This bus could be a real find for the VWenthusiast that buys it.
