Car description

1979 PORSCHE 911/930 TURBO COUPE: --Mocha Brown with Tan leather interior and Brown dashboard, Tan carpeting, 4-speed manual transmission, showing 34,000 miles, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, Rare original colors, Matching numbers, K27 turbo and factory European exhaust muffler, Well serviced, Collector-ownership. For Porsche to race in FIA Group 4 competition, their racecar had to be homologated as a production model and thus the 911 Turbo was born for 1975, known internally as the 930 Turbo. The first 400 units qualified Porsche to go racing with these cars. The original Turbo, known as the Turbo Carrera, were initially fitted with a 3.0 Liter flat six-cylinder turbo engine producing 260bhp. For 1978, Porsche revised the 930 with a larger 3.3 Liter turbo engine rated at 300bhp. Porsche also revised the large rear spoiler as well officially naming the car 911 Turbo worldwide. With U.S. emissions restrictions tightening in 1980, 1979 became the last model year that the 930 was specified for the American market until 1986. This 930 was produced in October of 1979 and was first purchased by Dr. Everett Wood from well-known and respected dealer, Vasek Polak, Manhattan Beach. CA Vasek Polak was well known as an ally of the Porsche factory racing department in many of their racing in endeavors here in the United States. Dr. Wood used his 930 on weekends for leisure touring, accumulating only 23,000 miles until later in his life. It was always well maintained and serviced at Vasek Polak during his ownership. While remaining sentimental to him, Dr. Wood held onto it and the stored the 930 until selling it in 2007. The 930 was then sold to Mr. Sean McGrath, an ex-Vasek Polak mechanic (who previously worked on this 930 over the years). During McGrath’s ownership, any and all items were addressed and serviced as he enjoyed the car for over a year prior to moving onto another classic Porsche. McGrath sold the 930 in 2008 to Dr. Pope Moseley of Albuquerque, NM, chairman of the Internal Medicine Department at University of New Mexico. Dr. Moseley enjoyed the 930 for a few years while also servicing it regardless of use. After accumulating just a few thousand miles, Dr. Moseley sold the 930 to Porsche collector Phil Ulrich of Bozeman, Montana with just 30,000 miles. Mr. Ulrich had extensive servicing performed by The Auto Works Inc. in Bozeman. All mechanicals were gone through with over $14,000 in servicing. Mr. Ulrich used the 930 sparingly until selling to its most recent collector-owner. To date this 930 has been in exceptional care since new and meticulously maintained. In recent ownership, another $13,000 was spent to overhaul the entire front suspension, rear axles, new idle bypass valve and new tires. An icon of Porsche’s history, this 930 is a superb example that runs strong and tight. Presented in an elegant color combination, it is ready for immediate use and enjoyment. The 930 is accompanied with service records, originals books, tools, original spare and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
