Car description |

You are bidding on a super nice driveable/showable 1966 Pontiac GTO. It is a restored car, solid body and quality correct Barrier Blue paint. The car was thru a complete overhaul approx 25 years ago but the paint, while not absolutely perfect, is incredibly nice given the fact that it has been on there for so many years. VIN# 242176P181174
The underside of the car is clean/solid/original as well. It does not have a fresh tar/undercoating used to hide rust but just a nice clean, somewhat detailed/painted undercarriage. This car has solid quarter panels and a solid trunk pan, only some surface rust where the trunk liner sat.
The doors, trunk and hood all shut and close excellent. Overall it has a super nice, clean appearance with no damaged body panels or other serious paint damage on the exterior. Panels all have correct fit and gaps.
The interior is in very nice condition throughout. The dash pad is void of sun damage or show of age. The seat covers and carpet were replaced in the restoration. All of the dash gauges are in good working condition with exception of original AM radio and tach. It is believed that a tach adapter is all that is needed to interface with the aftermarket distributor. The headliner is good. The door interior panels have wear down low and can easily be replaced. . The doors need new weatherstripping installed.
The motor compartment appears to be totally complete and all items seem to be in working order. The tri-power riser has been Jet Hot coated, and a number of chrome items installed including ceramic headers. It has a complete stainless steel dual exhaust with side outlets capped with Meg tips. The sound is incredible! The engine is not believed to be the original, it is however a correct 1966 389 engine. The motor was rebuilt in 1999 by Watson Rupple Performance in OH. It is a .30 over rebuild and a very healthy pump gas motor. Customer requested 425+hp. The radiator was also redone along with the 4 speed transmission, and HD clutch. The rear end features 3:55 posi-traction rear gears. Many receipts from this overhaul accompany the sale.
The car features the classic American Racing Torque Thrust 17" wheels purchased in 2008 and are like new. BF Goodrich 255/50 rear tires and 245/45 front tires.
Sale includes PHS documentation for proof of how the car was in original condition, to include: Rally Gauge Cluster, HD 7 Blade Fan and Fan clutch, Ride & Handling Pkg, Super Lift shock absorbers, Safe T Track Rear axle, HD 3 Speed Manual Trans (WOW what an oddity), TRI-POWER V8 389/360hp GTO ONLY, Code P Barrier Blue paint. To be clear, transmission is now a 4 speed.
Clean title in hand. I've owned the car since 2006, The previous owner had the car for 15 years prior. I have put less than 1000 miles on the car and it has been very reliable for me. Odometer shows 67,500 approx. The car has always been garage stored and has a brand new battery. Vehicle is located in NW suburbs of Chicago.
This vehicle is being offered to the person looking for a nice clean piece of Pontiac Iron. This is an excellent opportunity at a neat car that will attract attention everywhere it is driven/shown. I say after you look at rusted out/patched up junk or projects, OR outrageously priced trailer queens, you will appreciate the overall originality and driveability of this car. This sale does not have a outrageous reserve price.
Further interest or questions can be directed to Tom; 8475145178. I also have video of the car idling so one can appreciate the raw sound of this muscle car.
