Car description

For sale is my rare 1971Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. The car was restored back in 2007-2009. That toinclude: paint, chrome rear bumper, pot metal pieces, emblems, front lens, windshield, most all front and rear suspension components as well as therebuild of the engine, transmission and clutch assembly.

The car originally wasfinished in Aztec Gold with a black vinyl roof and a 3 speed M13 manualtransmission. It now wears the beautiful basecoat clearcoat Lucerne metallicBlue paint. And the ever so reliable Muncie M20 4 speed transmission. The carhas power steering, power front disc brakes, remote left side mirror, factorytinted glass, shoulder harness seat belts, AM radio and the first year offered15” x 7” factory Honeycomb wheels sporting 225-70R-15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s.

The engine is numbersmatching and is built to stock specs. It still uses it’s original “Quadrajet” 4barrel carburetor with an automatic choke and has had a “Pertronix” electronicignition up-grade. Engine runs strong with no issues including no fluid leaksof any type from anywhere. The rear differential is a 10 bolt GM open type with3.42 gearing. The exhaust is a dual system with a “Flowmaster” transversemuffler exiting out of factory style polished Stainless Steel tips. Car soundsmuscular and drives, steers and shifts beautifully.

The interior is inalmost new condition. To include new front seat covers and carpet. The rest ofthe interior is from what I can tell original. The dash pad has no crackingonly a minor dimpled area that can be seen in the photo. The optional Formulasteering wheel is perfect too. The rear seating area and door panels are ingreat condition as well as the headliner. All can be noticed in the photos. Theside glass is scratch free as well as the rear. The windshield was replaced. The body is super straight with great gaps, shut lines and solid closing doorswith no window rattling. A common issues with these cars. Windows roll easy andall door locks work with both button and key. All gauges including the clockfunction as they should but the tachometer is off approximately 600 RPM as youget up to around 2, 000-2500 RPM. I always remember Sun Super Tach’s replacingthe factory tachometers of the day because they were slow and inaccurate. Alllights and accessories work as they should including the cigar lighter and AMradio. In the trunk we have a compact spare tire along with all the jackcomponents. Also included is a copy of the window sticker, factory build sheetand the original glovebox manual.

Click on the short videos below for a better ideaof the condition.

Your viewing a car youcan feel confident about driving and showing without any issues. It’s basicallyin new condition with only maybe 1,000 miles on the restoration and drivetrain. You’ll also be the only Firebird Formula 400 at most any car show events. Ispeak from experience. As I say “It’s the other Trans Am” when people say theyhaven't seen one of these Firebirds before.
