Sport Fury Convertible, 383 HP / 4 speed manual

The term "survivor" can be overused and subjective, but what you'll find here is something very close, original and un-molested. It is a numbers matching car and I am the third registered owner of this car, the second owner, purchased it in 1972 and had it until 2012. Inspections welcomed, further information and other pictures will be provided on request.

This from the 1972-2012 owner:

"I bought the car in about 1972 from a local Pontiac dealer in Two Rivers, WI. The original owner traded it in on a new Pontiac Grand Prix. The car was bought from our local Chrysler/Plymouth dealer, Yanda Motors, in Manitowoc, WI. I knew the dealer owner and he told me the original owner was a salesman from Newton, WI. He drove it about 4 years and traded it on a Grand Prix. The car had approximately 70,000 miles when I bought it in 1972.

"At the time I was working in the Chicago area and came home to WI on the weekends. I kept the car in a garage on my dad's farm in WI all the years I owned it. I just drove it on weekends in summer. I think I put about 10,000 miles on it the first year and when I sold it, it was around 102,000. I wrote the mileage number on the left front fender every time I changed oil. If the numbers are still there, you should be able to see how many miles I drove it since 1972.

"The top is the original top and it never was in the rain all the years I owned it.In the early years that I had the car, I would leave the top down in summer for whole weekend. But in the later years it seemed the top was hard to lock to the windshield if you left it down for a long time. So the last few years I always put the top back up after using it on a weekend drive. I think the top may have shrunk a bit over the 40 years I owned it. Somewhere during the 1stten years that I owned the car, I had some rust spots fixed on the bottom panels. I think they re-painted everything below the red strip.But after 30 years or so, the painted area seems to have faded faster than the parts not painted. The chrome along the rear wheel wheels was also replaced at that time but front ones are original. By the way, the red strip came standard from the factory on the Sport Fury. The wheels are also factory”.

The car runs and stops very good but the transmission is stiff at times, (new synchronizer assemblies will be included). The 70's body work mentioned above is showing its age in the paint and lower quarters and could be addressed. The upper surface areas that retain the original paint still look good. The front of the hood has some bugs & chips, ("patina”), and there are other dings in trim, bumpers are in very good condition. It looks like it was undercoated and/or rustproofed early on. The trunk and floors are solid but some rust in the left sub-frame mounting area, (common on these I'm told) was repaired to meet NYS Inspection. The 383 has the original dual snorkel air cleaner, HP exhaust manifolds, distributor, (w/points), and Carter AVS4426S carburetor. All lights and gages, (except clock) work. Original top w/glass back window goes up and down well and has the original boot. Dash pad is excellent with no cracks. Driver seat was recovered, passenger and rear are original, carpet is original, but faded in spots, and has wear spots in the front area. This was an ordered car, (see fender tag decode).

There are no Titles issued in New York State for cars prior to 1973. Will be sold with a transferableregistration and bill of sale.

In the five years of owning and driving this, (among other things), I've done the following:

· Brakes, everything from the pedal down, (except the drums that were resurfaced and some lines), including all parking brake cables.Heater Core.Original radiator was re-cored.Rear leaf springs re-arched with additional leaf and coil over shocks.Mufflers and tail pipes.Seals in rear axle. Recovered driver's seat.AM/FM radio, (Original AM radio and a vintage Motorola FM converter will be included).Rear seat speaker, (When I purchased the AM/FM it came with the OEM fader switch and complete wiring harness to the rear seat), I installed this with a reproduction 6x9 speaker in the rear.New Tires, including spare.Valve Seals, springs & Valve cover gaskets, first time the valve covers had been off the engine, (gaskets still had engine paint on the tabs and the inside of valve covers and heads were was very clean thanks to regular oil changes.
