This is a great Opel GT. I have a ton of history paperwork and manuals for the car including the original owners manual. It appears to have originally been a Florida car and then Carolina car. and the remarkably solid body is evidence of that. If you don't know these cars. they aren't unibody or body on frame. they are true monocoque construction- the whole body is a stressed component. As long as they are rust free. they are remarkably rigid cars. and this one is very solid. A new clutch. pressure plate and throw out bearing was just installed. and when the car was in the air. it was incredible how rust free it was underneath. The original factory paint (a beige color) is still everywhere on the underside. Really. 99% rust-free under there. It has the 1. 9 liter 4 cylinder previously rebuilt. 4 speed tranny. and nearly everything works as it should. It starts instantly (has a manual choke- if you are younger than a baby boomer. this might not be the car for you) and runs wonderfully. again. for a 40 year old car. The tires are all like new. The headlights operate. Besides the clutch. the battery is also new. as is the new tie rod end and bearings. It comes with a whole box of spares (all sorts of new parts- extra new water pump. headlight control mechanism/cable. on and on). manuals. a whole extra rear axle even. The interior is pretty good. not perfect. Appears original to me. Carpet newer. I believe the distributor is now "pointless". What's not great? It was changed to red paint at some point in its life. and is good from 10 feet. but don't expect it to be 2015 BMW quality. The reverse lockout on the shift needs fixed to be correct. No big deal but easy to find reverse wanting first. There is some rust through under the battery tray. no big deal. The radio stinks. and the antenna just broke off when I bumped it the other day. Clear SC title in my name. Odometer says 35k; don't know the accuracy. Assume it's 135k. This is a cool car you can afford to drive. A very nice example priced to sell. Although I have sold perhaps a dozen cars on ebay over the years with great results. I really hesitate to sell a car like this on-line. It is heard to completely describe everything satisfactorily. nor is it easy to gauge the buyers expectations. I have had people look at it as if it's a courcours winning show car. not a $6000 driver. and nit-pick every flaw. The car is not perfect. and I am not asking a high dollar for it. I don't see obvious evidence of collision. It runs well. is very solid and nearly rust free. I see some evidence of filler in a rear wheel opening. and a little bubbling in the paint in a spot or too down low. No big deal. but also not perfect. But it is rust free everywhere that is critical. You can drive the car as-is. or it would be a good candidate for a full resto. But please. don't bid and expect a new BMW to show up. Expect to get a great. solid. good running 40 year old Opel. I love this car. and I treasure my great seller's rating on eBay too.
