Car description

This 1964 Morris Mini Traveller is a left hand drive USA spec car originally sold in California, and spent many years in Las Vegas as the work vehicle ofa cabinet maker. The car was stored for many years before it was purchased from the cabinet maker’s son in 2008. It was then restored over a period of 3 years including a bare metal paint job and 1100cc engine in place of the original 850, as well asnewsuspension, brakes, and interior. It remains in as-restored condition with a recent service, nice cosmetics, and no known mechanical needs. It was used a show car when restored for BMW North America and even some pics below from the shows.
The color was changed from a brown / tan combo to an attractive medium blue with a white top. The car was taken down to bare metal and found to be rust free, a benefit of long term Southwest ownership. There are some minor nicks and scratches from use but no significant body or paint damage. The chrome bumpers, mirrors, grille, and lights are in nice condition with no pitting or damage. The 10″ wheels were powdercoated at restoration time to match the roof, with freshly polished hubcaps and new tires installed.
The color change was done thoroughly with door jambs, interior panels, and the engine bay painted to match.
The interior was refreshed including new headliner, carpets, and new wood framing for the front and rear sliding windows. All metal interior components such as the dashboard were repainted along with the exterior. The seats are in good condition with the exception of some small tears visible on the driver’s seat and some light wrinkles and lines.
The electrical system was completely gone through withany issues sorted out. All lights, gauges, and accessories work, including the blinking indicator on the end of the turn signal stalk.
The well-worn original 850cc engine was replaced with an 1100cc unit in good condition. The car was given a number of mechanical refurbishments during restoration including the following:
  • New brake lines, master cylinder, drums, and cylinders
  • New front and rear shocks
  • Tie rods, ball joints and bearings were replaced
  • Fuel tank boiled out with and all new fuel lines fitted
  • New clutch, flywheel, and rear main seal
  • New clutch master and slave cylinders
  • Re-cored radiator
  • New thermostat and housing, heater valve, and water pump

Recently service includes a rebuilt SU carburetor, oil change, spark plugs, air filter, coolant flush, and new radiator hoses.

The undercarriage appearssolid and appears to show only light oxidation typical of any car, more evidence of the car’s desert history.

The gallery includes several photos of the car during the restoration process. The car was incorrectly titled as a 1961 after restoration rather than 1964 as confirmed by the heritage certificate. Left hand driveMini Travellers are relatively rare, and this nicely refurbished driver built on a solid rust free shell is being offered at no reserve!

Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new truck as soon as possible.
My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to describe accurately the shape of the truck, but keep in mind it is impossible to discuss every detail of a car for better or worse. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Mini (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use despite its service and restoration. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 10 year old restoration that has received some nice refreshing cosmetically and mechanically. This is a very nice example of this very hard to find Mini, but please just remember that car is perfect. Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! It is impossible to list every pro and con of a car, I am not an inspection service, it is your responsibility as a buyer to do your due diligence and inspect the car. All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech!
Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!
