Car description

1977 MG MGB ROADSTER SOFT TOP 1.8L 4-SPEED CHROME BUMPER. Condition is Used.

This MG has a chrome bumper kit added which gives it the retro look with more modern upgrades in engine and transmission that MG offered at the time.

In August 2008, this car was purchased and stripped down to the bare metal. Both rocker panels were were found to be bad and replaced with stock material that is thicker than the original material. The floor pans were sprayed with bed liner material to prevent any rust and rot. Both the rocker panel and the floor pans are notorious for rot and decay in MGs. The professionals at Campbell's Auto Body went through a 11 step process to prepare and paint the car. The car has absolutely no waves when you look down the sides. Two coats of clear were added to the car to give it more depth and shine.
Since 2008, the following items have been repaired, replaced, or upgraded.
European air hornModern fuse panel (corrections were made to protect the interior wiring which is an issue with MGs)New resistor (replaced the old style wire resistor with a ceramic resistor)High Performance coilPeco high performance exhaust (this car sounds great)
New rotor, button, spark plugs, and wires.Down draft Weber Carburetor (engine vent has been re-routed to the intake)New fuel cell with new fuel pump
New alternatorNew master cylinderNew brakes and brake lines front and back with new rotors in frontFront suspension has been rebuilt with all new parts (the king shaft was not replaced)New modern shocks with conversion kits were added to the front and rear suspension (stock shocks were removed)Electrical relays were added to all switches (MGs come stock with direct switches which cause issues over time) including the
horn, head lights, brake lights, and turn signals.New ignition switch and keysNew light and turn signal switchNew rubber seals throughout the carWood dash board with dash board coverNew wheels and rimsNew door switches and courtesy light switchesParade cover for the top storage area when it is removed.
There are many more improvements that have been made over the years.
This car has been driven weekends and special events for the past 12 years. In 12 years, it has been in the rain once. When the car was purchased, I removed the top and replaced the area with a parade cover. I like this look better; however, you do not have a top. I have since re-installed the top and the parade cover is in the trunk. The current top has two small holes which can be repaired. I have only had the top on the car once in 12 years and that was when I reinstalled the top. The car was used as a true roadster and enjoyed with the top down of off.

This car is a head turner. When I go places and my wife follows me, she always comments that most cars have people taking pictures of me when they pass me. The car is used almost every weekend (weather permitting) and is 100% reliable. I have never been towed. NOTE: There is a small dent on the right front fender. I hit my bike wheel while backing out of the garage. It is minor however it wanted to make sure that it was disclosed. I included a picture with the dent. I am sure that it is PDR able.

The chrome bumper kit makes this car. All other 77 MGs have the large rubber impact bumpers which greatly detract from the appearance of a MGs.

Just contact me if you need more pictures or want to test drive the vehicle. A1A is very close to where the car is located. This is a perfect test drive trip!
NOTE: I am not a dealer. I could not get the declaration removed when I posted the auction.
