1975 Mercury Monarch

I spotted this car recently and had to have it! I had never heard of a "grand" Monarch before this one. I did some research and apparently it is the predecessor to the Lincoln Versailles.
This one came from the factory with the 351 Windsor motor and cool-as-all-get-out two tone leather seats! Which are in amazingly good condition.
The poor girl sat for a few years and did not fair too well under a tarp. So the hood needs to be repainted and the top is in, eh condition. If you want a quality piece, one might replace the top.
It does run and drive and stop. Needs a tune up and probably the carb to be cleaned out. Maybe it would be a good idea to clean the fuel tank too. Or it may just burn the old gas out eventually.

The interior is in very nice shape and could just use some good cleaning. I wish I knew more about this car but I just don't. I purchased it for a friend to fix up and make a cool driver. I did not drive it and trusted the guy that it ran and drove fine. It would appear the transmission need some attention. Its the C4 and I have never heard of one going bad, but it does not shift automatically through the gears. It will drive in first, then I can shift it manually to second and that's it. The motor is very strong and I do think this was an old ladies car that sat under a tarp for a little too long. Has the 9 inch rear end and 4 wheel disc brakes of course though. Neat car that I would keep if it weren't for having so many projects!
