Car description

1987 Mercedes-Benz SL- 560 SL
This car is complete and ready for the right person looking for a restoration project on this classic V-8 Mercedes Convertible.
I have owned this car for approximately 12 years. It was in good running condition, everything worked, all power, AC when parked in my shop 5 years ago. The first picture is of my wife (and dog) in this car from approximately 6 years ago right before it was parked.
Now it is being sold "as-is" and will take some work and the right person to bring her back to life.
The pictures are as it was pulled out of the shop, so the vehicle in the pictures are a bit dirty dusty. It is December now in MN, so unfortunately no opportunity to wash. It would be an aggressive wash and detail to bring it back to the condition of the first picture, but the shine is still underneath this dust. All body panels are in great shape, no dents or significant dings. The body is clean enough that it could be restored without painting, but it would be up to the person doing the restore work and how picky they are. It is very good to excellent condition, but it is a 33 year old vehicle with original paint, so it is not perfect. There does appear to be one blister on the drivers lower rocker panel and underneath the muffler hanger appears to be rusted and would need to be replaced.

The chrome and all bright work is also very good condition and with some minor effort could be brought back to life.

This could be a very good parts donor car, but it would be a shame to do so as this is a COMPLETE car, everything is on it, nothing has been stripped or removed or damaged.
The good: It has the optional removable hard top with it. The bad: The rear window in the hard top is cracked and would need to be replaced. The convertible top is also functioning, but anyone restoring would likely want to replace all interior carpets and the convertible top. There are still kits for all interior carpets and tops available at very reasonable prices.
The battery is done, but I did hook up a charger yesterday and all power works, electric windows rolled up, etc. Not enough juice to turn the motor over, but again......it was a complete running vehicle when it was parked.
I always intended to do a full restoration on this car. These are beautiful cars, beautiful lines........... I just don't seem to have the time and need the space. Now it needs to go to someone with the capabilities and time to bring her back to life. If you have the skills and time, this is a very light restoration project as everything is there.

Purchaser must be willing to arrange transportation or pick up. I will assist with the loading. I can possibly transport in an enclosed trailer at the cost of $1.50 per mile, depending on where it is going.
Thank You for looking and good luck bidding!

I have had significant interest in this car. For all of those asking "what is my sell price"? This is an AUCTION. Bid the maximum price you are comfortable with.
Again, this car was running when it was parked, but that was 6 years ago. For those asking "does it run good"? All I can say is it did when it was parked There will be some work to do (for sure drain & flush fuel system) & whatever else is necessary. It is being sold as a "complete car" but not a currently "running car". If I had the time, I would get it running before selling and likely get considerably more. Again, bid accordingly & what you are comfortable with. If you are not a competent mechanic or don't have one to assist, this may not be the car for you.

Someone asked about the undercarriage condition. I just crawled underneath and inspected and took photos. My ebay listing does not allow additional photos. The undercarriage has been under coated. There are some signs of surface rust, but nothing rotten with the exception of the exhaust hanger previously mentioned. The ad mentioned there is a bubble on the drivers rocker panel. I believe I was mistaken, there are rocker drain holes forward and aft and the irregularity appears to be part of the drain system.
Someone asked "if there are any cracks on the dash." Unfortunately, there is one crack on the dash. I took a picture of that as well.

If you have any other questions, reach out in detail via ebay messaging. If you want additional pictures of the rocker panels, undercarriage or interior dash, you can text me at six5one 3zero8 One2zeroEight.
I hope this info helps. I am trying to be as up front and honest as I can be about this car. It will be a fun project for someone.
NOTE: Whomever wins this, needs to send a $500 paypal deposit, within 48 hours at the conclusion of the auction. Remaining balance due in 7 days. (we will discuss final payment and delivery). If you have zero bid history, reach out to me ahead of time or your bid will be removed

Happy bidding!!!!
