VIN # is 1 digit shorter because of been an import (16 digits VIN#s in Germany in the 90s) eBay says VIN # is Invalid since its shorter and wouldn'tallow me to list vehicle,so in the title description I was forced to update listing details and pick 1980 this way i could list vehicle
VIN # on title and car matches :WDB1231301A91865 ( 16 digits)
167,000 original miles
I hate to part with this Benz, but my family comes first
I don't have to tell you how well these engines are made if you are looking for a 300d than you already know.
This engine will easily surpass 1 Million Mile mark without a rebuild, and the non-turbo diesel models are even more reliable than the US Turbo charged versions.
I wassurprisedthis 300d non-turbo feels faster than a US Turbo Version, or its just the manual trans, I'vehad three 300d in the past 10 years, its my all time favorite classic.
This Diesel Benz OM617 engine is absolute music to the ears !
Check thisYouTubevideo engine running and idling:https://youtu.be/AsgDEQyxL3I
The motor is outstanding and balanced, starts in cold from first turn, runs quiet and no knocking of any kind, no leaks of any kind, no smoke ...
Mechanically the vehicle is perfect, its very reliable. Everything works, all windows, transmission and clutch are very smooth. (There was a smallvacuumleak which caused going in reverse to be harder then usual but it was solved)
To make this car perfect it will need some body work and good paint. Or simply drive as is.

Cosmetics
Cosmetically, the car has some surface rust since it was driven in Germany for several years before imported to the states in late 90sMostly surface rust here and there small spots, some dents on rearquarterpanel and trunk near badge.under carriage isn't rusted, it has one spot near under the trunk that has some. Some dents andover-sprayfrom a paint job from years ago( the way i purchased it)
Interior
Even tough its the EURO model, mostly they are more simple, this model comes with power windows. Interior is Blue and its inoverallgreat shape, the carpets could be washed and cleaned better, the dashboard as all 300d have couple small cracks but it has a rare matching Blue Dash cover and it masks it well. The odometer works perfect, the clock, the radio is original OEM, all windows all buttons works perfect, rear seats have lost a bit off blue color in some areas but all seats have no rips.
The Bad:(None of these issues are major or expensive to fix ...some are irrelevant but i wanted to list all i know)>>>>>>>>>>>>1 Tire deflates after 2 weeks - no nails in it,The antenna in trunk doesn't go up and down. The front hood needs adjusting forward ( i can adjust that before sale)has a tiny exhaust leak near manifold or at least i can sense it, it may not be noticeableto you at all.AC needs a rechargeThe paint isn't perfect but for 40 year old car it is in pretty good shape, it is probably not the original paint, some over-spray in some areas.
Why Buy this 300d
This is great opportunity to own the Euro Version of the legendary w123 300d, which is extremely hard to find in the states without getting it from Europe and paying high import fees. You may not get another chance to get a Manual 300d so don't miss out. I hate to part it with it, but it has to go. Come test drive it anytime, it can be easily driven from state to state. I have taken it from MD to NC and back and no issues.
