Car description

No Reserve.
Here is a nice looking 1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL with 138,200 original miles. Hard top / Convertible. Comes with upgraded wheels and tires and good brakes. Tools are in the trunk with a few spare parts. Car starts and engages swiftly, no strange noises and idles as it should. The soft top is like new and clicks into place easily. The hard top comes off and goes back on easily as well. There is a full size spare in the trunk and not seen in the pictures but it also comes with a first aid kit. The stereo has been upgraded and works as it should.

There is some bubbling in the paint over the rear passenger side wheel well. As well as the front diver side wheel area and just above the headlights as seen in the pictures. There is a small crack in the dash board and a hard-to-see nickel size tear in the driver seat which can be easily glued back together.. The hard top is in good condition.

NOTES:
The thermostat creeps up quickly when idling, it may need replacing. The forward gears engage quickly however, reverse is slow to engage. When the car is cold -you will have to wait 4 to 5 seconds to let it engage. I found that the accelerator may occasionally stick which may be due to the car not having been on the road for a while. The center arm rest will need to be adjusted and one silver trim piece is missing where the seat belt rests against the seat - it's a decorative piece. The two rubber bumperettes on the rear bumper are positioned only for the pictures - they will need to be reattached correctly.

The tires are like new, wheels are in great shape, exhaust hums nicely as well. The windows go up and down with ease, the doors open and close as they should. I have not owned the car long but in the time that I have had it, it has not leaked or marked my garage floor. Power steering works well the front hood latch is unpredictable and sometimes makes opening the hood difficult.

The car can be driven away, however with the temperature gauge showing that the car is running hot after idling for a while, I would recommend a delivery service until that has been worked out.

I have tried my best to describe the condition of the car - there may be issues that I am not aware of which is why I have listed the car being sold AS-IS. You are bidding on what you see in the pictures - my description is supplemental. Please come and inspect the vehicle prior to bidding. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Full payment can be made via PayPal.
