Mercedes g wagon convertible diesel w/5 cyl. turbo diesel conversion

1980 Mercedes Benz 240GDThis 1980 G-Class was purchased by this owner 4 years ago. I purchased this truck. along with a Mercedes 300 Turbo Diesel 5 cyl. engine. which the previous owner had planned to install to replace the less powerful 4 cyl. diesel. I knew a good old German diesel mechanic. familiar with older Mercedes trucks. and he performed the engine swap. I drove this truck for two years as a daily driver. nbsp;and then stored it 2 years ago. It started right up. just before I started to write this ad. The truck has a small oil leak on the oil cooler return line. It will cruise on the highway at 70+ mph. nbsp;even on inclines. The speedometer cable is broken. and the odometer reads 99. 64 km. nbsp;but the odometer turns over at every 100k kilometers. Therefor. the true mileage of this truck is unknown. This is a Rare and extremely capable Truck! If you are in the least familiar with this vehicle. you know of its incredible off road capacity. and extreme rarity. This Mercedes is 35 years old. and so is the comfort level of this model. This drives like a truck. and the convertible roof. although in great condition. makes the interior very loud at highway speeds. I do not recommend that you drive this vehicle home from my location. since it has been sitting for so long.
