For many the 1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV is the epitome of American post-war luxury sport touring with the accent on luxury. It is hard to deny that this is really a fabulously designed car under the auspices of Lee Iacocca and is fast becoming a favorite for serious collectors. Much of its styling cues came from the Rolls Royce especially the Rolls Royce grille. The 1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV sold like hotcakes and made Lee Iacocca look like he was on the money with his design ideas. For its day it was relatively compact and handled extremely well. The 460 cubic inch engine could propel it quickly off the line and gave it all day cruising speeds of 85-95 mph. Everyone seemed to love the styling cues of the hidden headlights. There is no question that driving a Lincoln Mark IV around town will cause a stir and people will turn around and take a second look and comment on the beauty of the car and the proportions. Here at MissChiTown we like to think that every car has a color that accentuates its most outstanding characteristics and we certainly feel that medium light factory green that this car is painted is certainly the best color for a 1972 Lincoln Mark IV. The Mark IV is not one of those cartoon looking cars of the 50s or even one of the ill proportioned cars of the 60s but represents true good taste and automobile design and proportion. The proportions follow Lee Iacoccoa’s most successful formula of long snout and short rear deck. It is also fitted with the fake spare tire bulge that gives the car pleasing dimensions. The interior gives a smooth transition from leather and wood embellishment that are well balanced for a luxury look. The car in this ad is unbelievably clean and if you check out the pictures and the doorjambs and the trunk. it appears as though it is almost a brand new car. Just check out the leather interior. the carpeting and the dash. You would be very hard pressed to find a Mark IV that could be any cleaner then this car. Mark IV owners that have had the pride of ownership of a Lincoln Mark IV will tell you that the ride is exceptional and cloud like. The Ford C6 automatic transmission has been heralded as one of the best automatic transmissions ever made. One owner told us that the only way that you can tell that the transmission is even shifting is by noticing the sound of the exhaust changing from gear to gear. The seller has provided in his own words his description of the car. I purchased the car in June 2012. It came from the estate of a Lincoln dealer in North Carolina. My understanding was that he sold the car new and then acquired it back three years later in trade. from whence he kept it in his private collection until his death in Jan. 2012. This Lincoln is in excellent. wonderful condition. The known issues are a non-working clock. a cracked foam molding on driver side rear doorway (see picture). a 3 millimeter paint chip in left front quarter panel. and two very small cracks in the leather of the driver side door pull. Otherwise. car starts. runs. drives. and rides beautifully and looks just as good both topside and underneath. Power seats. antenna. AM radio. door locks. side view mirror all operate as intended. 21. 00 original miles. Small bumper. 460 cu inch. 365 HP. Michelin radials. The car has 21. 00 original miles and is all-original. except we put on a new/rebuilt carburetor from Daytona Carburetor. The new throttle cable is OEM from Ford. The original chalk markings under the hood and on the underside of the car are still visible. Exterior: Relatively new Michelin tires. I conditioned the vinyl roof and it is spotless and new looking. There is a tiny chip in the left front quarter panel that would disappear with a drop of touch-up paint (I waited too long to order the paint and it got too cold up here to apply it). There is some slight ‘crackling’ of the paint on the left front quarter panel just along the hood line. but hardly noticeable unless you are six inches away. Straight all around except for a minor ripple or two on the passenger door. Light covers operate perfectly. Interior: I condition the leather seats every season and they are excellent with very mild patina. if any. The A/C blows cold and the power antenna and all power window and seat functions work properly. There is an AM radio. The clock does not work. There is a tiny break in the leather of the driver’s side door pull. The dash has no cracks or discoloration. Otherwise. the interior is excellent/new looking. I believe this is the nicest color combination that Lincoln offered in 1972. The car starts immediately. idles and runs as nice as could be. I would not hesitate to drive this car any distance with confidence. As you probably know. ’72 was the last year of the high HP 460 V8. This car floats down the road but it will go when you give it the gas! The cars of the 1970s are just becoming spotlighted as some of the most popular collectibles and they have yet their maximum in terms of value. This Mark IV is a wonderful car this is a wonderful time to make an investment in your car collecting future with one of the most desirable collector cars of the 1970s. We can highly recommend this car. XxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxX All descriptions and photos have been provided by the seller. PLEASE SEE OTHER VEHICLES THAT WE HAVE LISTED.
