RARE 3.5V8 NOT VM DIESEL

The Car:
1984 LHD Land Rover Range Rover Classic 2 door 3.5 V8 5 Speed Manual, finished in Arctic White and never been re-painted (only some touch ups in places). Totally original matching numbers vehicle with original chassis, engine, gearbox and even axels. It shows it has only travelled 134,178km (83k miles) in 35 years! This is the last of the 'upright metal grill' models before they went to a horizontal plastic. The mirrors were also mounted to the quarter light glass section in the later cars where as this car has them mounted to the door. I have never seen a factory 5 speed V8 Carb 2 door, they were mostly 4 speed with overdrive and the 5 speed generally came later with the diesels and EFI petrols. It's a rare opportunity to purchase a V8 in the states, there are a number of diesels being offered but not so many petrol - personally I like both for different reasons. The VM diesel is a great engine but they do suffer a little with the heads and the petrol is a beautiful low compression V8 that will give you around 15 mpg with a light foot - but I guess that doesn't matter if you're only using at the weekends?
Please Note:This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase a LHD 2 door classic V8 in totally rust free condition.
The history of this car: This RRC was produced at the factory in Solihull, UK in July 1984 and delivered to the supplying dealer in southern France the same month. A French Gentleman from a village close to Saint-Tropez on the south coast of France bought this Range rover new in December 1984. He used it for pleasure and the odd job until his passing in 2016 when his wife technically became the second owner. This is all documented in the History file. After some time and it not getting any use she decided to sell.
Recomissioning:
Since purchasing the vehiclewe have prepared it for the English MOT Test. We have done a major tune up including new distributor, points, leads, plugs. Oil and Filter change. Brake fluid change and adjustments. New Manifold and Twin Carburettors, Water pump, Thermostat Housing and Thermostat. Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter. Coolant Hoses and of course fresh coolan, new exhaust system and 4 Brand New Tyres on refurbished Rostyle Steel Wheels (rare and expensive).

Mechanicals:
I have owned many Range Rover's of this era, and they have all had character but this is truly the best one yet to drive, it's very tight in the steering, it brakes well and straight, pulls extremely well through all 5 gears without any crunching or whining noises. It runs up to temperature well and has no overheating issues. It really is a pleasure to drive especially at 70 mph. It recently passed the very strict MOT test in the UK with only one advisory, this was that the rear bench seat wasn't fitted at the time of test. There were no other faults to report - obviously no rust as previously mentioned. It cold starts first piston up and runs very quietly - much more appealing to listen to than the VM diesel (although that is a very good engine). To Summarise, there are no leaks from any mechanical component - which is rare! You cannot fault this vehicle mechanically, regardless of it's age. You will just want to keep driving it and never get out it's such a joy.
Chassis:
The Chassis is completely original and contains absolutely 0 rust. I have photographed every section, body mounts, inner wheels arches, battery trays, bulk head,Floorsetc. there is not one spot of rust which I have never ever seen. It was garaged throughout it's life whilst living in a very dry climate so this has very much helped save this piece of history.
Body and Trim:
The body requires a full respray, the lacquer has faded completely, although it doesn't look sun scorched so you could use it as it is with the 'patina' in tact. All the panels are in very good condition, a few minor dents and scuffs but very straight. The trim is all in tact and not loose and broken, the rear carpet on the boot floor is missing - the complete carpet set in any original colour is available in the UK for around £500. The drivers seat will require repair or re-trimming (to be perfect). The headlining looks incorrect as I think it should be a light sand colour, it is currently grey. The doors and tailgates are in rust free condition. Only some surface scratches on the tailgatehave tinged a rusty colour. The Seals are very good, the front windscreen outer rubber is perished but still water tight (change it when you paint it) they're about £35 in the UK.
Documentation:
This RR was first registered in France in a village called Le Muy on 13th December 1984, where it has spent it's entire life, it was registered in the UK 02/05/2019.I have the lots of paperwork from the French husband and Wife who owned it from new. It is now Registered in the UK for ease of registration in the USA. The title (V5 Log book) is in my personal name at my home address in gloucestershire, UK. This will make it much easier to register in the US with an invoice and matching title.
Current reg number is A975 YCY, the French registration number was 891 AMT 83. You can use the relevant UK car check websites and DVLA mot site to do any checks required. The stamped chassis number is the same on the chassis as it is on the documentation and Vin Plate. SALLHABV8BA148533.
Summary:
If you are looking for a RR 2 door that you can cosmetically restore but want something you can use that is reliable and all the mechanical elements already taken car of, this is for you. The Rover is currently stored in my garage at home which is fully insulated and heated (although not required at the moment as it's 80 degrees Fahrenheit). I have been using this lovely lady at the weekends during the summer months as its such an enjoyable car to drive.

Who are we?: I am a huge car enthusiast. Please look up my Instagram db.classics.I started DB Classics Ltd after an evolving hobby, importing LHD rust free examples to enjoy, for a small period with a view to selling to the American market (without people like me there would be no 2 doors in the states!). I work from home and all stock is kept in my heated garage. Look out for the Series 3 2.25 petrol restored and coming soon to the market.
Please give me a call, text or email anytime and I will be happy to help answer any questions or anything I am sure I have missed from this advert.
