Car description

1975 Jeep DJ-5C (It's the Utility version of a CJ)Rare. Most DJ's are Postal Jeeps with the steering wheel on the right side. this version has the steering wheel on the left and were manufactured as delivery trucks. At some point in her life. someone removed her doors and chopped off her top and put on a cooler looking windshield. Meant for hauling weight and lots of stopping and starting. so she is tough. Bought this car a few months ago and dropped about 4k into fixing her up and getting her running and working well (Receipts attached in images). Would love to keep fixing her up but my wife is making me sell her. She is fun as hell to drive and if you like attention. she gets it. can't park it anywhere without people asking questions and even taking pictures. Also every other Jeep you pass honks and waves. I'm told she is good for off-roading. but I've never taken her off the asphalt. But I have driven her at 80 on the freeway for a few hundred miles. it's windy. but she does fine. She starts up every time and I've never needed to jump her. and after all the work I put in to her she drives straight and I mostly drive her one handed. This is my almost daily driver and since the restoration work. she is pretty reliable. Positives:- 3. 8 Liter V6 straight- 2wd fully Automatic Transmission- Shoulder restraints in front two seats (lap belt in back)- Roll bar- New Brakes (all 4. shoes. drums. springs. etc)- New steering gear Box- New Tie rod ends and bushings (front end re-aligned. etc. )- New gaskets and seals around tranny and oil pan (still slight oil drip where tranny and engine meet) - Replaced instrument panel and electrical system partially repaired (when I got it. fuel gauge. engine temp. and some lights didn't work. now they do) - New stereo. plays radio and MP3s off SD Card or USB. and AUX input. added 4 speakers DIY style but it cranks! - Welded and repaired radiator and coolant system. - New side mirrors. seat covers. and spare tire Cover- Disassembled and rebuilt the turn signal mechanism and repaired it. - Disassembled and cleaned most of the electrical connections under the hood. - RPM's hold steady and she hardly shakes at all. - Peppy little thing with great pickup. I regularly smoke sportscars who want to drag race at green lights. :)- Good ground clearance. - Locking toolbox bolted in the back with Jack and tire iron. - New AntennaShe drives great for a car with no power brakes and no power steering. engine and tranny are in pretty good shape and except for the leaks I fixed have given me no trouble. Also the windshield folds down. which is fun at 50 mph (as long as you're wearing sunglasses. )Had 90K on the odometer when I got her. but since the instrument panel was busted I had to replace it and new (old replacement) odometer reads 50k. Title does not have milage listed since it is so old. Title also lists it as a '75. but stamps on the car say it was manufactured in 74'No SMOG needed in California since it is over 25 years old. Here is everything that I know is wrong. NEGATIVES1. The Brake lights are not responding. the lights themselves work and turn on with the headlights and turn signals. but when you press the brake pedal they don't get brighter. THIS is a brand new problem. as in I was driving all over town today running errands with no brake lights and had no idea. Just went to test everything before writing up the listing and noticed. They were working 2 days ago when my wife was driving behind me. I imagine this is a simple fix. since the car only has five fuses. but since I'm selling it. I'm not about to start taking her apart again. 2. The electrical system is wonky. like I said only five fuses (see pics). so not much there. I already repaired the Engine temp and Fuel Gauge but the battery gauge. and oil pressure gauge seem to respond only sometimes. But like I said there is not much to it. My next step in restoring her was going to be just pulling most of the wires out and rewiring it from scratch. but like I said. I have a hard stop work order from my wife :)3. The Hazard lights don't work. and the headlights flick off when switching between Hi and lo beams. but if you just wiggle the knob they turn back on. 4. There is a crack in the windshield (see photos). never bothered me. but not expensive to replace. (I was quoted at $200). Totally my fault. if you drive with the windshield down you need to strap it down with bungee cords. I was driving with it down and went through a ditch at 40 MPH and it swung up and then slammed back into the hood and cracked :) Like I said. fun as hell to drive!5. Even though I repaired a bunch of leaks. she still drips tranny fluid from the gasket where the engine and the tranny meet. This is a pain to repair since you need to remove the engine. so I just throw a rag under her in the garage to catch the few drips. 6. She has no doors and no roof. this could also be a "Positive". I think it is. but if you care about your perm staying fresh. she ain't the car for you. 7. The seats look beat up under the covers (That's why I bought them). and the jump seat in the back needs some upholstery work. As far as I know. except for being a 40 year old car and all the possible problems that go along with that. that is all that is wrong with her. Suped up these things can go for 12 grand or more. would love to keep her and jack up the suspension and put some monster tires on her and diamond plate the interior and put racing seats in her etc. etc. I can't. but you can. But as is she looks pretty sweet and is a blast to drive. especially with the windshield down :)I really hate to get rid of her. but if I don't I'll have to hire a divorce lawyer. This vehicle is being sold AS IS with no implied warranty. No Returns. Refunds. etc. I listed everything that I know is wrong with her. I'm not a mechanic. and I offer no guarantee that this thing isn't gonna fall apart 5 minutes after you buy itBut she was just running great as I was cruising with the wind in my hair watching the sunset over the mountains. Like I keep saying. I really don't want to sell her :(Message me for a test drive if you are in the area. I'm on a private street so even with the non-responsive brake lights we'll be cool. Will only accept. Cash. Money Order. or Bank Check. $500 non-refundable paypal deposit required within 48 hours of purchase. or I will sell it to the second highest bidder. Thanks!
