History:
This is the fourth ED7 Honda Civic Si I have owned and by far the best. The first car I owned was a 1989 Honda Civic Si in white that my dad purchased after seeing it for sale in a post office parking lot. I have enjoyed this particular generation of the Honda Civic ever since and purchased my current 1990 Rio Red Honda Civic Si in 2012.

Originally sold on August 16, 1990 in Wichita, KS, this Honda Civic was driven 135k miles by an aircraft mechanic (I was told) in Kansas until making its way to Arizona around 2003. The second owner continued the meticulous care the Civic had received while adding another 100k miles. Despite already owning another 1990 Honda Civic Si in October of 2012, within days of viewing a sale ad for this car I was on a flight to Arizona to buy it. The car was in even better condition than I’d hoped for.

The second owner was an older gentleman who eventually kept the car strictly for light autocross. He removed the A/C system for ease of maintenance and weight reduction, installed Koni Yellow shocks with Ground Control coil-over sleeves, lightweight 15x7 Enkei RPF1 wheels, and maintained a well-documented and strict maintenance routine. All modifications can easily be returned to stock condition and many OEM spares are included with the car. During my ownership I have sought to simply maintain the originality as much as possible while preserving the superb handling characteristics from its former autocross days.

I have owned this vehicle longer than any other and it truly has been trouble-free. I fully expected to watch the 300k mile mark roll by, but the number of miles I put on this Honda each month is slowly decreasing and it needs to be driven more. Hopefully someone who is enthusiastic about continuing the care of this classic Honda finds this ad.

Exterior
When I bought the Civic in 2012 it wore its original Rio Red paint, aside from resprayed front and rear bumpers. There was some clear coat thinning on the roof due to the Arizona sun, although the car was generally garaged and presented very well. Despite my best efforts to protect it, the car has required body repairs during my ownership. During one month the left quarter panel was hit while parked at my work place and the left fender and hood were damaged when a driver hit me as they exited a parking lot. These repairs were completed at a local certified autobody shop through insurance. Recently, my canoe fell onto the windshield and slid down the hood, so the Civic now has a new windshield and repainted hood. All other paint is original and presents nicely.

The car is not perfect, but presents well for a 30 year old car with mostly original paint. Photos taken on iPhone 6s and were not processed afterward, so you can see that the paint really does shine nicely. Expect some pits from rocks and road debris on the front bumper as well as a scuff where the exhaust from my motorcycle slid against it. There are a few shallow hail depressions on the hood and roof that could easily be corrected with PDR. The pictures show that these don’t really stand out much. There is absolutely zero rust anywhere on the car, including the quarter panels which commonly rust. The roof received the worst of the sun damage, but I chose to simply maintain the finish rather than repaint it.

This car was only ever hand washed by me and the prior owners clearly cared for the paint as well. Plastics and molding were protected using 303Aerospace Protectant. I always garaged this Civic and/or kept it covered using a custom-fit Covercraft cover. All photos are recent and represent the true condition of the Honda. I would give the exterior condition a conservative 7.5of 10 due to the wear noted above, although I haven’t personally seen one in better condition.
Interior
The interior is also in good condition overall, particularly for its age and when compared to most of these hatchbacks. Seats, carpeting, and the impossible-to-find floor mats are all OEM original. The only true negative is wear on the driver-side seat bolster which is nearly ubiquitous on these cars. The driver floor mat does also show wear from nearly 300k miles, but still presents well with no holes. Everything else in in great condition: seats are clean with little sign of wear, carpet and floor mats are nice, no cracks in the dash or climate controls, all lights work, moonroof operates easily, and HVAC system runs well. The A/C system was reinstalled and converted to R-134 after the original compressor was rebuilt during my ownership.

All interior components are OEM except for an Alpine head unit, Alpine speakers, and a Momo Competition steering wheel. The Alpine head unit and speakers are a simple, but effective combination that sound great. The Momo Competition steering wheel provides a thicker wheel to grip compared to OEM, however the OEM wheel is included in the sale. An OEM lower center console was added from a European Honda Civic that provides an extra cubby and a more finished overall appearance. Overall, a conservative 8.5 out of 10 for the interior.

Mechanical
My Honda has been maintained to OEM specification using OEM parts whenever possible, either by myself or the mechanic I've worked with for 19 years at H-N-A Automotive who specializes in the Acura NSX. The engine is unmodified and does run a drop-in K&N air filter. The head and block have never been separated. A rare, genuine HKS Sport cat-back exhaust from Japan was installed new shortly after I purchased the car. I was unable to find an OEM engine mount, so an aftermarket part was installed. The only other non-OEM mechanical parts I am aware of are suspension related, including:adjustable control arms, Ground Control coil-over sleeves, Koni Yellow Sport shocks, and 15x7 +41 Enkei RPF1 lightweight wheels.

I planned to keep this car for many more years, so any issue that arose or repair needed was always addressed immediately. Below is a summary of work done during my ownership. Extensive records, including repair invoices and receipts from all owners, will be passed on to the new owner.

This Honda has been stereotypically reliable; I never think twice about driving this car whenever and wherever I choose. It starts up every time, settles to an idle of 850 when warmed up, and is eager to rev. You should have zero issues driving the car for another 100k miles with routine maintenance. A timing belt service would be the next maintenance item to perform.
Misc.
Many spare parts come with this car (see pics), such as: a set of (4) OEM 99-01Civic Si wheels, OEM tail lamps, OEM steering wheel, OEM center consoles, OEM climate control face, OEM control arms, rear brake drums set, miscellaneous gaskets, 2 OEM oil filters, etc. I am also including a custom fit Covercraft car cover and Yakima roof rack with Sidewinder bicycle attachment.

If you know these ED7s and are a fan, buy my car and you won’t be disappointed. The mileage is a point of pride for me, demonstrating the reliability of this Honda and the care it’s received for 30 years. This car is no museum piece, but the love it’s been shown is evident when you drive it.I’ve owned this car for almost 8 years, but it’s time to pass her on to another caretaker.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Vehicle is sold AS-IS, with no warranties expressed or implied. Mileage will increase slightly from what is noted above.

Test drives allowed only with proof of ability to pay and valid license.

I reserve the right to end the listing early if the vehicle sells locally.
