Car description

I bought car just over a year ago here in NM. Car was being sold on consignment as the owner was clearing out his collection. Car was restored about 7 years ago, then tucked away in the owner’s collection and never driven. Owner didn’t want to be contacted so all the info I got I had to get through the consigner. I’m selling because retirement is looming and it’s time to reload the money gun (I have spent way too much money on cars over the years…it’s a disease I’ve had since my teen years.)

Exterior of the car is immaculate. Lazer straight and needs zero attention. No chips, no scratches, no fade. Lime Gold is the original color of the car (see Marti report). For some reason when they restored the car they left off the hood pins. There were Mach 1's with the hood pins deleted but this wasn’t one of them.

Interior is a solid B+++. No rips, no tears, dash is clean with no cracks, original rim blow wheel is in very good condition (but the horn doesn’t work). Original AM/FM radio is installed, but its purely cosmetic and doesn’t work (to look original at car shows)

Mechanically the car tends to wander around a bit on the road so I’d rebuild the front end. Engine was built by a shop here in ABQ back around 2000, but I have been unable to get any info on the build (I do have the cam specs for the car though). It currently has a Holley 670, headers, dual exhaust. The FMX was built also with a shift kit and a higher stall converter but consigner wasn’t able to give me the specs….but you can tell when you drive it. Because the car sat for so long some the engine and tranny seals leak. I’d pull and fix all at once. Like many early Mustangs car randomly overheats, but runs well 99% of the time. If I kept the car I going to beef up the cooling system…and put the AC back in the car.

Odometer reads 87000ish, but I can’t verify how close that is to correct. Power steering, power disc brakes up front, car stops like a typical Mach 1 at the time. Car probably has a total of 300 miles on it since the restoration.

Car is located in Albuquerque, NM
