Car description

I have owned this 69 Shelby GT500since April of 1977. I bought this car from a local Chevy used car lot after it was traded in on a new truck. The car was painted black with white strips at the time and itremained that way till I began to restore the car in 2015. The car had a little over 17,000 miles when I bought the car in 77. After owning the car for several years I found out the car was originally a drag car run by Ault& James Speed Shop here in Dayton, OH. That was the main reason the car had such low miles after 8 years. I would use the car over the next 35 years in the summers for pleasure.

After all of those years, the black paint had seen its better days and I decided to give the car a refresh. I had always been mostly a purest in keeping the car as original as possible over the year, but once I began to take the car apart, I decided that I wanted to keep the car black and not go back to the original Black Jade. I thendecided to do what many would never think of doing to a real Shelby, and do a light Restomod. I put Wilwood 6-Piston Brakes up front 4-Piston in the rear. Ridetech coil-over front suspension was added for drivability and stance. The engine wasrebuilt by "Ohio George" Montgomery speed shop. The engine is the original block to the car and is now .020 over with a 4.25 stroker crank for a total of 460 CI today. The engine now has a Crane roller cam, aluminum heads and intake, JBA ceramic coated headers along with 2.5" stainless exhaust to the back. Engine produced 505 HP and 575 ft-pounds of torque with its original 735 Holley carb on George's dyno.

I had the car rewired with a modern wiring harness with everything fused, hid the wiring in the engine compartment, and moved the battery to the trunk. Added 17" X 9 wide wheels with Nito 255'supfront and 285's on the back. Added 70 Mach 1 rear sway bar and early Shelby traction bars. All body panels and fiberglass fenders and hood are original to the car.

The last thing that was decided to finish the car, was going with an original reflective black stripes on the gloss black paint job. This gives the car a really nasty evil look (Think Eleanor in a 69).This car is a show stopper and a blast to drive. This car has the stance and looks that I have never seen on the 69-70 Shelby's. The car has been driven about 500 miles to car shows since 2017. I still have all the original parts that were taken off the car and will go with the car. Message me if you want to have someone checkout thecar.
