Delightful, Detailed Restoration Retractable Hard Top Convertible

1957 was a good year for cars, as this frame-off restored 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner retractable hard top demonstrates. When introduced, the Skyliner was the only true hardtop convertible in the world. The mechanism which folded and retracted the roof was also unique, being powered entirely by electrics--no hydraulics. Another surprise--the mechanism was remarkably reliable!

Jerry's Classic Cars in Springdale, AR completed a thorough frame-off restoration of this beautiful two-tone blue Skyliner in April 2017. The car was solid to begin with, yet was completely disassembled, and made all new before being carefully reassembled. The frame was powder-coated, and every single body panel sandblasted on both sides, repaired if necessary, primed, cured, painted, color sanded and buffed. The entire drivetrain was refinished, bearings and seals replaced, engine rebuilt, transmission rebuilt.
