Car description

Let me start by sharing a little more about this car. This was originally our Grandma's

Yes, always drivento and from church and her doctors, as occasional usage. Dad inherited it in 1990 (22 years later) from Grandma when it had only 28k miles on it. Since that time, it has remained in our family garage, within a climate-controlled area and rarely driven. All the engine belts and fluids have been changed regularly, if needed or not. It has always been pampered and maintained being it was Grandma's very special in our hearts. The conditions on this vehicle are truly (excellent) for a vehicle of this age, you can see in all the pictures, and it still remainsin agarage, covered in it's own dressing. It is barley driven showing there is a only a "very low average of 686 miles per year" that' sun believable, but true. This a true original.

One thing as important with Grandma's car has never been smoked in,smoking was never allowed near her, awful smell. The seats and dash have no tears, no marks. The carpets are like brand new, no tares no marks(black) that matches the interior.

Again, the car only has 34,290 miles to date being (50) years old, and the seats in the front and back are like brand new.The dashboard has no cracks, or marks original condition. Only thing you have to remember back in 1968 there was no such thing as power steering, power brakes. When you crawl inside it takes you back to the age of the car, solid door closings. There was no factory air conditioning installed in this vehicle, but the heat as installed from the factory works perfectly. I can't seem to find much if anything wrong with this car. The new car manual is still in the glove box with a set of original keys never cut or used from the factory.

Blemishes, are allvery few and limited if any.

We just took the original 1968 tires off the vehicle' last week and had new ones put on because of possible dry rot concerns, it waspersonally unsafe to drive any distance with length inthose conditions. We want someone to be able to take it on a full spin and see how smooth it drives. Yes, there was still ½' grade left on the tires but they are 50 years old. We kept them (4) they are also included in the sale, if wanted. We also had a new aluminum radiator installed and a new battery installed it was dated 2004 when daddy last changed it (amazing) but it cranks every time. We also had new plugs installed with a minor tune up is all it needed.

* There are a few tiny (small) rust spots small size of 1/8" under the vinyl roofing back corner near the windshield area, that's all. Door Panels are also free from rust, and the underneath from what I can see, is also free from rust.

* Front right panel, passenger side; a portion of the molding is missing approx.: 4" where her grandson ( my brother ) years ago, was in the garage where his tricycle was and riding to close to Grandmas car, as he hit the corner area, no scratches on the paint ( years ago they were buffed out ) but that piece of trimming over the years has disappeared, we had that piece it to place back but the family never did. But on the other hand, my brother will tell you he never forgot that whopping he got with the hickory stick from grandma!

* A small (minor dent rear bumper) picture enclosed to show you the area.a fewscratcheson the hood.

You'll notice in the pictures the car body, the entire body shines including the hood and door panels and the inside trunk. Color of choice when originally purchased (Celery Green) and also the engine hoodand side panels are clear from rust. The interior panel moldings on the doors look like new, no peeling or fading. The interior is as new looking as the inside of the trunk. The engine area is cleaner than most, for being 50 years old. The best part it starts up and runs like brand new I just wished it had the new car smell, when you climb in and look around you kind of expect it, figure.

Go ahead and get yourself a Carfax report if you'd like in advance you'll notice and see for yourself this car has never been in a accident, never any water damage, rebuilt, parts etc. nothing! And we offer at the time of sale a Clear Title to the new owner. As the current Title also "shows actual mileage”. The TITLE number is included in the listing.

Mutually together both families have now decided and agreed that were both getting older, and now Dad's home front is being sold that we lived in for many years when we were younger, which also has the garaged area for a few of our inheritances but we want to sell only this one. We are a veryup-front, and honest family if you have any questions or concerns if anything please let us know we'd be happy to share, the stories of this car.

Honestly speaking, were really hoping that the person that gets this car will also keep it for a long time, like we have in the family almost a full 50 years now. It has a long life remaining, if cared for like we have done for the past 50 years. We recommend Hagerty Insurance company is who we have used for years to have our cars insured with, with trust. Let's just say they have grandma's car insured for $34,000.00. That must tell you something, about this vehicle value and condition.

Our price is negotiable, and you may just be as shocked at our reserve price' we have set it is lower than most other 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 XL Models ~ showing the exceptional condition and mileage. We're not looking to make a lot, and or wait months to sell.

Mostimportantly as a few of my friends tell me if someone is looking for an original car that is also a ½ century old, and as nice as this one is well maintained, and will go for many years throughout as the value increase as well if kept garaged. You'll see you go to just get gas and you'll have everyone looking around saying can I peek at the inside. It's the kind of car something that everyone admires because of the newness in appearance, and knowing its 50 yrs. old wait until you go our for fuel, the many <winks> in commute, lolol

And again, anyadditionalquestions of interest will all be answered as directly as we can. We have tried to include all the pictures that me and my brother felt may be of interest to show the true beauty of this car, as your limited with the amount we can post without paying xtra fees.

Yes, we will assist anyone at the time that this auction ends with coordinating transportation to pick up at our residence. However only after we have arranged and thisvehicle is paid in full. And all of the necessary documents have been signed and forwarded, we will assist in any way we canon our end with your carrier of choice totransport this car directly to you, if you would like us too. Or you can come pick it up yourself, directly!

Your also welcomed to ask and set up an appointment to personally come and see this vehicle in person yourself, before the auction ends.

I'm not a photographer but we've tried taking multiple pictures. if you would like additional pictures just ask and let us know we will try our best. Also, FYI you may also see my account has established creditworthiness with E-bay so you have no additional concerns here either. However, we won't allow someone to bid within or on this auction without having GOOD and RECENT purchaseexperience here on Ebay, so no one is left hanging with a dead beat Ebayer to just bid along for day's and walk away at the time the auction ends we've been told beware of bad Ebayers.

The base color (Celery Green) and interior (Black) trim is all original and in great original shape, obviously shows some ware 50 yrs. new, as does the car in general given itis honest as the day is long... These big girls where often just wreaked out for the drive-lines but have gained a lot of popularity and are still hitting a good price point that makes them a stand out in the entry level market, if they are in a "original" condition.

As we mentioned above there is a very comfortable reserve price set, it is almost $9k below the current insured and appraised value for an immediate sale for the family.

We wish you the best of luck, and happybidding, this is one of a kind you'll see for yourself.
