Car description

1974 x1/9 for sale. This is the first year and is desirable for that reason. It has the European style bumpers that were only offered in that year. Recently purchased, and selling at a loss. It runs and drives well, but given my work schedule, I may have bitten off alittle too much of a hobby. Odometer reads 32,701, but I do not know if that is accurate. Here is what I know having had the car over the last several months:
Positives:Looks very sharp, runs and drives well and starts easily;little if any rust in the obvious places like, front trunk, floor pans, windshield, door jambs; seats and door cards are in fairly good condition, certainly presentable, virtually all of the electronics works, but one headlight is out; nice wheels and tires in good shape; prior owner advised he replaced master cylinder for brakes recently.
Negatives: It appears that at one time the car got hit in the rear drivers side quarter panel; The exterior body work on the rear quarter panel on the outside is good, but the inside is kind of rough- I tried to take pictures. It appears that the body shop could have done a better job of sanding and shaping the inside wheel well- not noticeable from the outside but is when you open the trunk and look in; it appears that the trunk wells behind the tires were sealed or fiber-glassed- those are areas that often show rust, but the small panels areavailable for about $40 a piece if I recalland could be welded in; engine compartment needs to be refinished- there are somethings missing like the blower housing etc. ; the engine was painted redfor some reason- I don't know if it the original engine or not- the prior owner was not able to advise on that; it needs struts and rear wheel bearings- bearings don't whine but will need to be replaced soon.I was toldthere is asome rust in one of the strut towers, but have not observed it myself. Dashpad has the typical 2 small cracks by the vent. Overall, I'm probably being overly critical, but don't want there to be any misunderstandings. With the struts and wheel bearings replaced it will be a very nice driver. Happy to answer any other questions.
