Carriage House Motor Cars is proud to present this stunning, hand built, alloy re-bodied Ferrari Testa Rossa. This car was built in the late 1960’s at a cost exceeding $150,000 using an original 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE. The GTE frame rails were shortened and modified toreplicate the tubular chassis of the original. This cars engine was also modified to Ferrari 250 LeMans GT specs and is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.. All aspects of this vehicle were carried out to be 100% identical to its original specifications. This car uses all factory Veglia gauges, all mechanicals, 6 downdraft Weber carburetors, 10mm LeMans racing cams, correct valve piston intake, carbs lightweight clutch and flywheel and all N.O.S Ferrari Trim pieces.
The original owner of the vehicle was CEO of Thrifty and National Car Rental, Bill Lobeck before being sold to the private collection ofMichael Armand Hammer. This Ferrari was driven in the Kansas City Road Rally by legendary F1 racer, Daytona 500 Champion, multiple 12 Hours of Sebring winner, Mario Andretti. This vehicle has also been used in other such rallies including the Inaugural La Carrera Real, driven by the famed racing driver, John Reeves and the Pan American Rally.
The vehicle’s mechanics were completely overhauled in 1990 from its original condition, and then underwent a complete 14 monthrestoration in 2002. This vehicle was built by Italian Coach builders, on factory Ferrari chassis and has real driving pedigree with the likes of Mario Andretti and John Reeves.
