Car description

You are bidding on a 1936 Master Six Pontiac Cabriolet, ne of only a handful that still exist and likely the most original restored example. Pontiac built only ±3,200 cabriolets that year and very few have survived.

Originally a mostly rust free California car, acquired it in 2001 and completed a full body-off professional restoration in 2007. My goal was to restore it to "day it was built" condition. A description of the car and the restoration process was documented in Hemmings Classic Car issues #40 & 41. More about 1936 Pontiacs in general can be found at http://www.earlytimeschapter.org/documents/36_restoration_guidebook_feb_06.pdf.

This car is a driver and cruises and handles well at 50-55 mph. The motor is the correct late production style L-Head six, lthough not original to this car. I've put 7,800 miles on the car since I've owned it and this motor has only 1,100 miles on it since being professional rebuilt.

Nearly every other part on the car has been restored, efurbished or replaced in the restoration process. The paint is the correct Martini Brown and the upholstery the correct Brown Bedford Cord. The top has the correct - and rare - oval rear window. All rubber parts are new and in excellent condition. The only non-original part, xcept the seat belts, s the interior rear view mirror, nique to this model. It has a Deluxe heater and electric clock (not-working). A correct Deluxe radio head will go with the car if desired, long with original literature.

The car is in 2+ condition, ith a few obscure paint chips and other wear that comes with regular use. It's a real head turner on the road and a sure hit at cruise-ins and car shows. Kids of all ages will enjoy a ride in the rumble seat. I couldn't get good photos of the underside but it is as nice as the rest of the car.

Two examples have sold at auction in recent years, oth 8-cyl cars. A restored example, ut much less original that this car, old for $73,000. A barn find that needed a total restoration sold for $22,000. My reserve is closer to the middle of those prices, ell below the $80,000 I have invested in it. I love this car, ut am downsizing in the face of retirement and want to pass it on to someone who will care for this example of automotive history as well as I have.
