Car description

Classic Chevrolet car collectors & fanatics, it just doesn't get much better than this!
'Red Hills Rods & Classics' is thrilled to present to you this ultra-rare, all numbers matching, & fully documented 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 LS3. This outstanding example is one of only 1,533 built, one of only (8) known to exist today, w/ only (2) of those being 4-Speed cars! Most folks will tell you that they had no idea that Chevrolet still offered a big-block option for the Camaro in 1971. Out of nearly 115,000 Camaros built in 1971, only 1,533 were big-block cars, which is approximately 1.3% of total production. Out of the 1,533 LS3 cars built, approximately 233 were produced w/ the Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission, which is only .2% of total Camaro production! Can you say rare? This gorgeous 1971 Chevrolet Camaro is believed to be the only ‘SS 396 LS3’ optioned as such, which truly makes it a classic Chevrolet collectors dream, as well as one of the most desirable Camaros in the 2nd generation arena!
This beautiful LS3 Camaro is the finest of its kind available anywhere, and has been visually inspected & certified by Jerry MacNeish in December 2014, as being a 'real' LS3 Camaro, retaining its original numbers-matching 396/300hp big-block motor, its original numbers-matching Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission, as well as its original numbers-matching 10-bolt rear axle w/ 3.42 gears. The original Window Sticker is still present, which was verified by Mr. MacNeish as being 'original' to the car. She was sold new @ TJ Demarest Inc. in Westwood, New Jersey, w/ a sticker price of $4,093.85. Factory options include: (D55) Center Console, (LS3) 300hp Turbo Jet 396 V-8, (M20) 4-Speed Close Ratio Transmission, (J52) Power Disc Brakes, (N40) Power Steering, (U41) Special Instrumentation/Gauges, (U63) AM Pushbutton Radio, (P01) Full Wheel Covers, (Z27) Camaro 'SS' Equipment, (53-53) Placer Gold Paint, & (775) Black Vinyl Interior. The Cowl Tag was also certified as 'real & authentic' by Mr. MacNeish. From what I have been told, this is the only 1971 Chevrolet Camaro ever certified by Jerry MacNeish!
Please look closely at the photos to see how beautiful this car really is. A no-expense spared, professional nut & bolt restoration was performed and the final results are out of this world! The 100% rust-free sheet metal is laser straight all the way around the car, and the factory correct (Code 53-53) Placer Gold paint is simply gorgeous throughout. In regards to ‘Paint Condition’, Mr. MacNeish noted: “Very Good – Correct Original Placer Gold Color – Overall Appearance Very Nice”. The chrome bumpers & stainless trim is in show quality as well. In regards to ‘undercarriage’, Mr. MacNeish noted: “Very Clean & Original – No Rust – Floors Were Restored To New Original Condition & Red Primer In Color”. In my humble opinion, it is simply one of the prettiest 2nd generation Camaros that I have ever laid eyes on! The Placer Gold paint really has to be seen in person to appreciate how gorgeous it really is.
When you slide into the beautiful black bucket seat interior, you really can’t help but smile. Everything appears 100% factory correct throughout. Mr. MacNeish noted: “Very Good Black Standard Interior – Console & Gauges”. Again, it appears to be exactly as she left the factory in 1971, with everything in absolutely excellent condition throughout! All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, etc., work perfectly including the clock, AM Radio & cigarette lighter! Everything functions correctly!
Open the hood and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay you will find the original numbers-matching 396/300 hp big-block motor, linked to the original numbers-matching Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission, which feeds power to the original numbers-matching 10-bolt rear axle w/ 3.42 gears. Mr. MacNeish has verified all suffix codes, casting numbers, & date codes on the engine, transmission & rear axle as being correct & original to the car. She starts, idles, runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way, and is a blast to drive! The factory power steering & power disc brakes makes driving around town effortless. She sits on the factory correct 14” wheels w/ Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 tires, just like she did 44 years ago. Something about the color combo really gets all the attention! Everywhere that I have driven this Camaro, people gather around complimenting the car and asking questions. It really is a showstopper in every sense.
Extensive documentation includes: original Window Sticker, original Owner’s Manual, original Service Manual, original Overhaul Manual, original Chevrolet Camaro dealer brochure, stack of 3x5 cards w/ maintenance & work performed from day one, various registration & sales tax slips, assorted 1971 Camaro specification sheets, and of course the IAAA Certification Of Authenticity from Jerry MacNeish, verifying that the car has been visually inspected & certified by Camaro Hi-Performance as being a ‘real’ 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 LS3 car with its all numbers-matching driveline!
If you are searching for a blue chip classic muscle car that you can win First Place trophies with, or simply a car that you can drive & enjoy on the weekends, you will be hard pressed to find a finer vehicle. This is an investment grade Chevrolet Camaro that will only appreciate in value as the years pass.
