US 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Frame Off Built Corvette Sting Ray Pro Touring Roadster LS7 505 HP V8 5 Speed AC Year: 1965 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Blue Mileage: 1220 Transmission type: 5 Speed Manual Engine: LS7 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle info If anyone tries to tell you only numbers-matching Corvettes are worthy of investment and ownership. just point them to our RK Motors Charlotte website. They'll see offerings like this top notch C2 roadster. a no compromises pro-tourer. and most likely change their tone. It's really no secret why people love vintage Vettes so much; they're some of the meanest. most exclusive and most enjoyable muscle cars on the planet. And despite its exceptional modifications. which include a custom chassis. modern suspension and LS7 power. none of this Sting Ray's beloved design or old school goodness has been compromised. If you're an enlightened enthusiast who enjoys being at the pinnacle of style. the top of the leader board and the front of the show. this world class Chevy is the car of your dreams!Refinished in a stunning coat of DuPont Nassau Blue. and decorated with a white stinger stripe. this handsome roadster is a refreshing change from the sea of red and black Corvettes that typically floods the big shows. That said; the car was certainly intended to be a showpiece from the word "go". And one look at our professional. high resolution photos proves its rebirth was both thorough and precise. It's common knowledge that second generation Corvettes can be challenging restorations. But this roadster has all the signs of an expert job. including great panel alignment. good gaps and no signs of cracks or stress marks in any of the usual places. The soft glow of the car's fresh two-stage presents well from all angles. accenting a body which manages to hit the magical mark that separates a good restoration from an amateur affair. And its desirability as something that's as svelte as it is buff is both fitting and genuine. When you step back and look at this striking Vette. it's not hard to understand why many enthusiasts believe the C2 sits at the pinnacle of classic car design. And a large part of that perception is evoked by the car's excellent detailing. At the front of this roadster. bullet-style marker lights. a brilliant bumper and a red. white and black header cage a body-width. stainless-trimmed grille. At the sides of that grille. colorful fender flags ride between traditional door handles. a chrome bowtie mirror. and chambered and shielded side pipes. Opposite those pipes. a '67 Sting Ray hood leads the eye past C6 Z06 emblems to like-new glass. fresh stainless trim and a white canvas roof. And behind that roof. dual-mode tail lights illuminate a chrome-trimmed fuel filler. a clean "Corvette Sting Ray" script. a chrome-trimmed tag bracket and small. equally brilliant bumpers. This Chevy started life as a run-of-the-mill (if there is such a thing) 327 Corvette. Back in '65. that set-up was considered the hottest small block package on the market. But times change. and today. GM's 7. 0 liter LS7 is. hands down. the hottest small block your money has ever been able to buy. Twisting 505 horsepower into a claimed 3. 6 second 0-60 time. the 2010 LS7 crate motor rumbling beneath this car's hood is a technological testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more power! Founded in GM's very successful Corvette racing program. the brutal mill utilizes a forged crank. titanium rods and hypereutectic pistons to flat out whip pretty much anything with four wheels. A perfect amount of oxygen flows from a big. reusable filter element in to a familiar GM throttle body. That wind mixes with fuel in a factory intake and progresses to CNC-ported cylinder heads that are built with lightweight titanium valves. Immediately following combustion. spent gases roar through 2. 5-inch pipes via coated Rewarder Racing Products headers. Items like a Be Cool aluminum radiator. dry-sump lubrication. corrugated hoses and a SPAL electric puller fan ensure rocket-like acceleration. And a Satin Black frame. a chrome brake booster and familiar red dust covers enhance GM's traditionally conservative aesthetics. With a featherweight body and monstrous power on tap. it should come as no surprise that the bottom of this Vette features a host of noteworthy upgrades. The car's road-ready driving dynamics begin with a modern Street Shop chassis. Behind the stout LS7. a 2010 Tremec TKO600 5-speed twists torque through a rugged hydraulic clutch. That torque races to a posi-trac C4 rear end. which is fitted with smooth. 3. 45 gears. That first class drivetrain rolls on a fourth generation Corvette independent suspension. which is equipped with fresh QA1 coil-overs. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and solid stops are initiated when bright red calipers squeeze drilled and slotted rotors; 13 inches up front and 11 inches out back. Power flows through American Racing Torq Thrust IIs. which spin 245/45ZR17 Kumho Ecsta SPTs around polished spinners. And everything. from this Corvette's braided brake hoses to its clean fuel tank. is expertly finished. superbly detailed and ready for action. Inside this Chevy you'll find a standard leather interior that's completely restored to showroom mint. The thick white seats feel firm to the touch and show virtually no signs of wear. In front of those seats. a sporty. dual-cowl dash hangs a small clock and correct AM/FM head unit between electric gauges and controls for modern air conditioning. Under that dash. stain-free carpet centers a small console and traditional chrome shifter between color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet. good looking door panels trace plush armrests with clean chrome handles and bright stainless trim. And in front of the driver. a wood-rimmed steering wheel twists satin spokes around a colorful horn button. No matter how much of a purist you might be. you have to admit this Sting Ray is one seriously cool ride. It's exceptionally built. incredibly appealing and. thanks to tasteful upgrades and a spectacular restoration. can show with the nicest cars on the planet.
