Car description

    • 1971 numbers matching SS Camaro

    • Sunflower yellow (original color) with black stripes, black vinyl top and black vinyl interior

    • Floor mounted console and shifter

    • Bucket seats

    • A/C, Power Steering and Power Brakes. Disc in front, drum in rear

    • Sport mirrors; driver’s side is adjustable remotely

    • Rear differential - 3.42 Posi-Traction 10-bolt built by Pyle Brothers

    • Interior door panels, dash pad, A/C vents, and A/C ducts were replaced

    • Complete set of new Auto Meter Phantom gages were installed

    • Replaced the ignition switch, door and trunk locks

    • Installed Super Dynamat sound deadening material to the interior door sheet metal, the entire floor pan, along with new carpet and jute

    • Current Wheels & Tires - American Racing 15” x 7” Torque Thrust D, with Cooper Cobra P215/65/15 front and P255/60/15 rear. I have the original 14” rally wheels with trim rings and center caps.

    • Sony AM/FM CD player is mounted in the factory cutout at the front of the console. The dash has not been cut and will still accept a shaft type radio. Comes with a JBL amplifier mounted in the trunk, and Boston Acoustic speakers in the original factory locations. No interior panels have been damaged for speaker or radio installation.

    • 1-5/8” ceramic coated headers with 2-1/2” exhaust/tail pipes and Super Turbo mufflers routed to the rear of the car

    • Has the taller rear spoiler and is also equipped with a front spoiler

    • Single front bumper, not the split bumper option. Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed while I’ve owned it

    • Rear leaf springs, body mount bushings and radiator core support bushings were replaced

    • New side marker lights, tail light gaskets, SS emblems, and trunk mat

    • Lokar throttle cable

    • Ignition is an HEI distributor with an MSD upgrade kit, including a high voltage coil and high performance ignition module. The advance curve modifications were performed by McClemore Automotive and the advance is all in by 2,200 RPM

    • The current 350 C.I. Fast Burn 385 crate engine (385 HP/385 TQ) was purchased from Scoggin Dickey Performance Center, then sent to Sunset Racecraft and Machine in Lubbock, Texas for the Hot Cam upgrade and dyno session. The existing hydraulic roller cam was replaced with a GM high performance version and stronger valve springs, which produced an additional 87 horsepower and 67 lb/ft of torque. The engine made 472.3 HP @ 6000 RPM and 452.5 lb/ft of torque @ 4400 RPM on 90 octane unleaded fuel. I have the dyno sheet for details. It is a ZZ4 short block with GM fast burn aluminum Vortec heads and an Edelbrock Air Gap RPM aluminum intake. Cam specs = .539 lift intake/.558 lift exhaust, 234 intake/242 exhaust degrees of duration at .050. Also has 1.6 ratio roller rockers. This engine has just over 5,000 miles on it

    • The complete original 350 C.I. engine along with the original Quadrajet carburetor and Turbo 350 transmission are in storage and were in good working order when stored

    • I have a Hughes 2500 RPM stall torque converter that I purchased new from Arabie’s Racing Automatics and installed shortly after I purchased the car and the majority of the miles I put on the car were with this converter. I also have a 3000 RPM stall converter purchased new from Performance Torque Converters that I installed for a short time prior to installation of the current 5-speed manual trans. This converter has approximately 600 miles on it

    • Current transmission is a new Tremec TKO-500 5-speed manual with overdrive and dual disc clutch purchased from Keisler Engineering. This trans has about 1,000 miles on it. The overdrive is very nice for cruising. 2,200 RPM @ 70 MPH

    • Custom built Quick Fuel Technologies (QFT) 750 cfm dual feed, mechanical secondary carburetor that was modified by QFT per specs provided to them in relation to the engine, trans, cam specs, gear ratio, etc. Carburetor has around 300 miles on it

    • Factory A/C with an original A6 style compressor - The POA valve was removed and an accumulator installed, with a new evaporator, dryer, blower motor and a low pressure switch to cycle the compressor, along with new upgraded O-rings and hoses when I converted from R-12 to R-134A Freon. I still have the POA valve. The A/C blows COLD. On an 80 degree day duct air temperature is 29 – 32 deg. F

    • I have the original factory valve covers, air cleaner, instrument cluster, etc., in storage

    • I do not have the original exhaust system

    • I possess stacks of receipts and records of almost everything I’ve done to it during the time I’ve owned it, which is far too much to list here

    • I have the original window sticker, the original factory build sheet that was in the trunk indicating what options were to be installed while the car was rolling down the assembly line, the original owner’s manual, the original 1971 Chevrolet new vehicle warranty brochure and factory protecto-plate warranty card, the original Chevrolet Consumer Information Booklet for the Camaro, the original new vehicle inspection form, the original wheel trim ring and hubcap instruction sheet, and the maintenance records for the first 18 years while in the original owner’s possession. And all of this is still in the original plastic Chevrolet Owner’s manual folder. All of the documentation in this listing is included with the sale.
I purchased this car from the third owner in 1998 and have owned it for just over20 years. In 2004 I removed the entire front clip and rebuilt, replaced, repainted, etc., everything from the firewall forward with the exception of the factory wiring and the exterior paint. I did re-route some of the wiring to clean up the engine bay.

This car IS NOT a trailer or garage queen. The car was driven regularly prior to my purchasing it and although I’ve never used it for daily transportation it has been driven regularly to keep it in good working order. However, even though driven regularly I’ve put approximately 20,000 miles on the car in just over20 years, much of that with the original engine and transmission.

The car is in nice condition but does show some signs of use, as any car that is driven regularly will show. Running condition is excellent and without issues. Everything functions as it should. The car runs strong and drives great, is fun to drive, and turns heads when I’m out and about.

It can be purchased with the current high performance engine and 5-speed manual transmission. If you want the original engine and transmission that can be arranged.

I have purchased vehicles on line and have been the victim of “questionable” vehicle descriptions. I can tell you I didn’t care for it. With that in mind you can be assured that all of your questions will be answered truthfully and to the best of my ability. If you have any questions, you can contact the owner of the car, David @713-725-1740.

This car is for sale in more than one location. I am a private owner and enthusiast. I am not a dealer. The vehicle is titled in my name and has been for20 + years. The reason for selling is that my interests have changed and isNOT because of financial issues, divorce, tax trouble, or defect with the car.
