Car description

This is probably the most unusual 1962 Chevrolet Corvair you have ever seen. It is a Monza 900 2 door coupe. It has been changed to a front engine and live axle rear end. It was originally built by Randy Cooper of Sisters, Oregon about 10 years ago. The engine is a 1998 Mustang 3.8 V6, pushing out 145 horsepower with and automatic overdrive transmission. The 7.5" rear axle boasts a "freeway loving" 2.73:1 ratio, meaning it will cruise at 75mph with the rpm just above 2,000. The engine sits in cradle like a Mopar K member. It runs and drives very well and really turns heads. The best thing to say about this drivetrain swap, aside from the reliability of E.F.I and the 20+ MPG is that it can be daily driven and taken on long road trips; It even has all of it's California smog equipment! It sounds incredible with long glass packs and exiting in front of the rear wheels. It has tilt wheel, air conditioning and heater, stereo with cd player. The suspension is all air ride by Air Ride Technologies. The bags at all four corners are Arnott. The system works really well and the ride is very nice. It has a 9 position controller. The headers were custom made as was most of the car. There was a ton of work to get this done and done well. The paint is showing some age as seen in the last photos. There is a ding in the left front fender and the clear coat is starting to peal on the left quarter. If it was stripped and painted it would be a perfect car for showing again. The only thing not working is the A/C. Everything else on the car works as it should and it is a ball to drive. To see and drive the car, call Bruce or Skyler at Bethel's Country Motors. 916-652-6852 weekdays from 8:30 to 4:00. We are about 15 miles east of Sacramento just off highway 80 going towards Reno, Nevada.
