As always. be sure to check out the museum either online or in person. The exterior showcases Chevrolet's brand new for '48 post-war design. Coined the Advanced Series. these trucks showcased many forward-thinking ideas sure as integrated headlights and a larger. more comfortable cab with seating for three. Other truck manufactures soon followed Chevrolet's lead. The paint and body show well throughout this truck. This is a base/clearcoat finish. The 5-window cab is in excellent condition. All of the glass shows well. however there is some fading on the outer edge of the passenger windshield glass pane. The rubber seals have been replaced throughout. Under the hood is the torque-rich Thriftmaster inline-6. This powerplant is paired with the Granny-Geared 3-speed manual transmission - 4 gears & reverse. The engine runs smooth and the transmission and clutch operate as they should. The engine compartment itself displays excellent sheetmetal throughout the firewall. inner fenders. and core support. Open the doors to 1948. The dash displays the factory brightwork and gauges. The dash was refinished along with the rest of the truck and shows exceptionally well. The gauges are functional. The floor features the foot start and floor shifter. The floor shifter would be eliminated in favor of a column shifter for the 1949 model year. The bed shows well inside and out. The wood bed was replaced along with the skid strips. The wheels of choice are the factory steel wheels. color-matched & wrapped in radial tires all around. The undercarriage shows well throughout. The underbody and frame are in great shape as is the bed underside. The front suspension is tight. This truck drives as it should. Remember. this one is not modified with a modern front end. it retains the factory steering.
