I bought this 1957 4400 with full intentions of restoring it, (and was one heck of a 2 day recovery to get it out) although also have a few other projects that have piled up.
During the summer of 2017 we used a one gallon gas can with a fuel line, fresh battery and she fired right up and ran great. The former owner later told me he knew it ran out of gas, was busy, and years went by so he let it go. It has no brakes at all! It is a manual transmission.
This truck has awesome potential and is a very rare find. The stake bed is bolted down but needs fab work in my opinion. I believe it to be original. There are two metal blades sticking up behind the cab that are not original, and also no longer on the truck.
I have shown pictures of some metal fab that needs to be done, but all in all this is a great project truck that would thrive with a nice Duramax / Allison combo with stacks or back to original. I understand the 235 was a bit of a toque monster.
This truck does NOT have an active title, but DOES have an open clearance to obtain one from the Arkansas State Police. All paperwork will be included with the purchase along with a Bill of Sale from the last owner who is now in his 80's.
This truck has NO warranty!
This truck has to be sold for parts or restoration.
It is NOT road worthy and will NOT drive down the road. It MUST be towed or trailered from its current location. There is NO SHIPPING unless you arrange a transport company to pick it up from my location.
If you have ANY question please feel free to ask and I will do my best to respond.
