1964 Chevelle Malibu Station Wagon – 30. 00 Mile Survivor One Owner for 49 years! _____________________________________For sale is my amazing and unmolested 1964 Chevelle Malibu Wagon. I am a private individual who purchased this incredible classic two years ago. It is my understanding and belief that the mileage shown is original. Since owning the wagon. I have made just a few updates (described below). but have been basically just driving and enjoying this car. The Story:This car was originally purchased by a gentleman in North Carolina in 1964. He owned the car for the next 49 years. until he sold it to a fellow in Massachusettes in January 2013. The original owner (now in his 80s) certified the mileage to be 24. 21 at the time of sale. The buyer did not realize that the car did not have power steering. which he was not able to drive. He garaged the car and immediately re-listed it for sale. I purchased the car a month later (February 2013) and had it shipped in an enclosed trailer to Virginia. and have loved it ever since. The car is amazing and does not appear to have ever been (or needed to be) restored. I believe that it was repainted and the engine compartment refreshed in 2007 or so and a few trim pieces may have been replaced. It does not appear to have had any body work at that time and all panels appear to be original. The paint is nice and has a very nice shine. but has some areas where the finish is a little inconsistent. I believe cars were made to be driven and in the two years I have owned it. I have put about 6. 00 miles on the Malibu. driving it every nice day I can. I have also taken it on a few several hundred mile trips. I have had ZERO issues or problems with the car. Starts immediately in all weather and runs smoothly. The small block 283 V8 is very strong and tight and burns no oil. The Powerglide transmission shifts smoothly and operates perfectly. I can not say enough good about this car. If you are looking for a great piece of Americana. this is it. I have never had so many thumbs up. waives and cheers driving any other car. including my 1969 RoadRunner convertible. EVERYONE loves this car. not just the motor-heads -- because everyone over 35 remembers spending countless hours getting dragged around in the back of one of these. or riding around town sitting on the open tail-gate. While I have had it in several local shows. I would not consider this to be a show car. But. it would not take much to get it there. Mostly. I have just enjoyed driving it. chatting with numerous folks and hearing their stories about the wagon they grew up in and listening to them tell their kids about this almost extinct body style. If you are considering a wagon of this vintage. you will be hard pressed to find another one in this condition. Specs: 289 c. i. small block V8 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission Drum brakes and manual steering All interior and exterior lights and blinkers work as they shouldHorn and lighter work as they should 2 speed windshield wipers and power washer work properly 1964 Chevy AM Radio (reconditioned approx. 2 years ago) Interior. dash. seats. headliner and carpet all in excellent condition Original Chevy floor mats (not pictured) included (some cracking in mats) Glass is excellent – no chips. cracks. scratches Chrome and stainless steel all in very good condition (original side stainless trim and roof rack a little dull) Updates and modifications. Since owning the car. other than oil changes every 2. 00 miles. I have also done the following: Replaced stock exhaust with new 2. 5” Flowmaster stainless steel dual exhaust system including all heat riser. pipes (from manifold back). new mufflers and tail pipes. Sounds great. but not obnoxious. Installed seat belts in back seat New rear brake cylinders and pads Issues: The wagon runs strong. stops straight and has no mechanical issues that I am aware of. It truly feels like a car with just 30. 00 miles on it and. in the 6. 00 miles I have driven it. I have had no problems of any kind. The only cosmetic or other items that I have found are the following: Dime-sized ding on passenger side headlight bezel. Rear power window goes up a little slow in cold weather. Rear weather striping could stand to be replaced. Small rust spot on inside edge of passenger side door (can not be seen or easily photographed). Oil pan is dented. I have a brand new pan and gasket which will be included in the sale (I just haven’t had the time to install). The pan leaks a couple of drops of oil. which I am advised will be corrected once the new pan/gasket are installed. The repaint is nice and has a very good shine. but is a little inconsistent in a few spots. Again. this is not a show car. PLEASE NOTE: I do not need to sell this car and do not need assistance selling it. I am not interested in consigning or brokering the car. As this beautiful wagon is over 50 years old. it is being sold AS IS without any representations or warranties of any kind.
