Car description

1994Brickyard 400 Corvettewith 5280 original miles. The car is absolutely pristine and remains as delivered new to the GM tech center, then on to Estes Chevrolet in Indianapolis where it was prepped for race day. It was then transported to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Inaugural Brickyard 400 race on August 6, 1994. Chevrolet provided 25, 1994 Corvette convertibles (13 Red, 12 Black) for the first-ever, Brickyard 400 . The cars were used to introduce the 43 Qualified NASCAR drivers to the crowd of over 300,000 race fans in a parade lap around the track. Most of the Corvettes carried two drivers who sat on the deck-lids and waved to fans in the grandstands during the parade lap. This Corvette was designated Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) vehicle #80 and carried NASCAR drivers Jeff Burton (#8-Raybestos, Ford) and Ted Musgrave (#16-Family Channel, Ford) during the pre-race festivities. Burton and Musgrave qualified for the race with identical speeds of 168.67 MPH and started side by side in row 19. At days end, Musgrave and Burton finished 13th and 19t, respectively, with Jeff Gordon (Chevrolet) taking the victory, as well as a place in Indianapolis history. After the race, the car was delivered to Dan Young Chevrolet and sold to a private collector. I have owned the car since 2007 and have accumulated a great deal of information on this car as well as the other 24, 1994 Brickyard 400 Corvettes. Articles about this and other BY400 cars, written by myself, have appeared in the NCRS Restorer magazine (Spring, 2009) as well as on the Indy pace car website. During my ownership the car has received an NCRS Top Flight award (Chapter, 5/1/2011) and was invited for display at the NCRS GalleryXI at Corvettes@Carlisle, August 2011. The car was also featured in a full length article, Corvette Magazine, December, 2011 issue as seen in the photos. The car comes with a 3 inch binder filled with documentation and track photos as well as much 1994 Brickyard 400 memorabilia. This Corvette is original except for the battery. It is spotless with no chips, scratches or evident wear. Worthy of any Corvette collection.
