Car description

1962 Chevy Impala Sport CoupeUp for sale is a 53-year-old, one-stock, ll original, n-molested (right down to the original air cleaner) 'survivor' car that originally came out of storage in Georgia. Decades ago, t was repainted by another owner in its original, hevy white color and is truly a 'survivor car'. It is a 'Sport-Coupe, ut not a 'Super-Sport'. It has a white exterior ('Ermine White' paint code 936) with a 'Roman Red' (paint code 923), mpala 'Sport' interior (albeit, habby). It is powered by a 283 cu.in. V-8 with a 2-barrel Rochester carburetor and the transmission is the original Powerglide automatic. The car has about 97K miles on it and is not pristine, ut makes a great, conomical, unday-driver. My son drove the car for a few months some years ago. And, t the time we went through the auto; doing tires, rakes, uel system, tc. to make it a dependable driver, e discovered the original exhaust headers had never been off the car as there were no gaskets behind them and the original factory exhaust tab-washers were still in place around the exhaust header nuts! As expected with an original, nrestored 53-year-old car, he engine did burn a bit of oil. From the time my son acquired another car, his original, 62 has been parked in a dry, teel, oncrete-floored, torage barn. I started the engine annually for about 5 or 6 years after parking it, ut it hasn't run for about 12 years; and it is currently un-running. We kept the car with the intention of someday restoring it, ut my son no longer has an interest in doing so. At the time we acquired the car, he passenger vent window glass had been broken and water had pooled beneath the passenger seat. We replaced the vent glass, ut there remains a 4-5 inch or so diameter hole directly under the passenger-side seat and, tin-worm' evidence on about one square foot of the passenger side floor near the inner sill area. If I were restoring the car, would replace the passenger side front floor pan near the seat & sill. The entire right-front floor replacement pan is about $67 from Rock Auto. The body is very solid and straight and the paint, lthough very well-worn and with what appear to be numerous, ouched-up, ravel road paint chips, s presentable from 20 feet! All the chrome trim is present and in excellent condition. The chrome bumpers are very nice and would not need re-plating for a driver car. All the glass is sound with no breaks or cracks. Also, very bit of the stainless and trim is all there as well. The interior is entirely complete, hough in need of replacement, and like the rest of the car, ll bone-stock, mpala original - sporting the original Impala bench seat. My son has cloth seat covers over the worn originals. EXTRAS . . .
