Car description

1974 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

1974 would be the last year of the Z28 for a couple years, ut made its mark this year with the optional striking and large hood "Z28" decals. Additionally, he car came with dual sport mirrors, black painted grille and a revised suspension. Total production for the Z28 was at a second-generation high at 13,802.

The grille was now shovel-shaped and the rear taillights wrapped into the fenders.

The RS model was discontinued at the end of the model year, nd the 1974 was the only Camaro with the seatbelt interlock system required by federal law. This annoying feature required all seatbelts to be engaged before the car would start. Obviously, his feature was short-lived, nd only existed in 1974.

1

Absolutely beautiful example of this classic car. There were 151,008 camaros produced in 1974. Only 13,802 were Z28's and of those only 6,978 were ordered with the stripe package. This is one.

original light gold metallic color, RIGINAL engine, nbsp;ORIGINAL turbo 400 automatic transmission. ORIGINAL rear axle code "CG" which is 3.73:1. Engine completely disassembled and rebuilt. Only a few hundred miles on rebuilt engine. Original Rochester quadrajet carburetor just rebuilt. Runs and drives excellent.

Car has been extremely well taken care of as is evidenced by how tight it drives, rakes, teers, tc. The floor pan is all original and rust free except for one 12 inch square under rear seat that had to be replaced.Shop welded in new metal patchpanels in typical places such as lower few inches of rear quarter and infront of rear wheels. Rocker panels never had any rust.New sill plates, new Camaro emblem on rear panel, new hood decal set, new front grill.

The doors line up perfectlyand there is NO sag at all! They open and shut perfectly & had not been abused

1974 was the last year for the high output 350 engine and the Z28 option until it returned in 1977. It was rated at 245 horsepower. Last year for the small back window (1975 went to a wrap around style).

Interior is in excellent overall condition. No rips or tears in any of the seats. Headliner is not ripped or torn either, ut has slight bow in one section that is not very noticeable where it meets the passenger side top window opening. Original dash is in good condition with no cracks whatsoever. Console has wear marks where the seatbelts rubbed and is cracked on bottom corner of shift plate bezel, therwise in good shape.

Tires are like new condition.

Aluminum bumpers are original and have some minor scratches and minor pitting in a few places. Not noticeable unless you are up close and inspecting it. Rocker panel moulding is original and in good shape.

There are not a lot of nice 1974 Z28's around, specially ones with all original drivetrains. This is the one to get from an investment perspective. You know it will only appreciate in value every year.

Engine rebuild details:

NO overbore was necessary! Themachinist saidthe engine was in such good shape that he only needed to polish the crankshaft and cylinder walls and NOT take any metal off. Odometer is showing 29,000 miles, hich I would expect is 129,000 miles based on the fact that the engine was in such good shape (althoughI suppose it could be 29,000, just have no way of knowing). The machinist that did the engine work asked me if the car had even been driven much as the pistonswere in such good shape. (original TRW).New crank bearings, od bearings, am bearings, ouble roller timing chain set, igh volume oil pump, ifters, amshaft, rankshaft polished, ylinder walls polished, new piston rings, new water pump. Engine compartment detailed and painted when engine was out. The car actually ran fine when I got it, ut I wanted to detail the engine and engine compartment, o ended up takingengine out anddismantling it and taking it to the machine shop to have them do what needed to be done, hich turns out wasn't much. Just replaced some parts to freshen it up and make it reliable. The machine shop also replaced any valvesand valve guides on the heads that needed it. The block was hot tanked and then repainted in the original chevy orange.

New radiato, new heater core, new heater hoses, adiator hoses, new transmission fluid.

I have pictures of all the engine and heads numbers and really cool pictures of the original grease pencil markings on the block. One is an ink stamp in large letters showing the "CLK" which means Z28. This code is also stamped into the block as well.

Engine pad numbers: 14N191823

V0409CLK

rear of block stamped 3970010

350 Automatic

Black Interior,

Z28 is missing the rear decal on trunk lid and spoiler, ut it can be ordered thru Phoenix Graphics for around $300.00
