1950 50 Buick Special Customized Chopped Top 2 Door Hotrod

1950 Buick Special Custom Hot Rod From the Golden Age of customizing. this survivor 1950 Buick Special was purchased new by John Dahemi of Brentwood. CA. The custom metalwork and design was by Gil and Al Ayala of Gil’s Auto Body Works (East Los Angeles. CA) in 1954-55. Dahemi retained ownership of the car until 1990. This car was featured in The Rodder’s Journal No. 53. Winter 2011. Page 10. Some of the Custom Features The chop is almost 5 inches at the windshield. Blanked handles Doors are triggered by pressing in the ‘50 Ford tail lights. Corvette grill Boltless bumpers Frenched headlights and antennas Fender skirts Wide whites with Cadillac hubcaps Air conditioning (not operational) Buick’s signature portholes were kept as identity markers. Engine and Transmission This car has is 350 Chevrolet V8 and a 350 transmission. It appears to have a Chevelle positraction rear end with rack and pinion steering. There is oil seepage from the engine and transmission. Seems to run well. Body It had a cosmetic restoration in the 1980s. Since then the car has spent many years in storage. and as a result it is showing signs of deterioration. You can notice in places where the lead is cracking and bubbling. especially on the hood and top. This car shows great patina. but to bring it back to its original glory. it would have to be repainted. Interior The interior is very nice and looks to be period correct. Undercarriage I don’t see any signs of rust under the car. But some of the craftsmanship could be improved upon. Please see pictures. Odometer reads: 53716 Clear Unbranded Title Sold as is.
