Car description

I regret having to list but I "need" to sell not "want" to sell. I looked for an all original 66 Riviera for many years. This was a one owner car I purchased from a small, family owned dealer in Missouri near Lake of the Ozarks. The car is completely original and unmolested and wears almost all of its original paint (less the original owner's touch-ups here and there). Original drivetrain; 425 Nail Head, Auto Trans, Bucket Seats, A/C, Power Driver's Seat, Shorty Console, Power Windows, Power Antenna (still works), very nice, solid, original and complete car. Entire electrical system all works except for the current Fuel Sending Unit (I have a working spare). Headlamp motor works as it should. Power windows all work. I had intended to do a complete restoration on this car but cannot do so now for financial reasons. I also have no inside storage available any more. I had planned to paint the car black including the bumpers, add a black vinyl top, and swap out the grill with a 67' unit (I just like the look and style with the bar down the center). Interior is nice. I had planned to redo the seats (some of the stitching is starting to come loose) and just refresh everything else by re-dying withthe original parchment color. Headliner is tight and and not sagging anywhere. It could use new carpet (hole in driver's side at the left heal). Dash is beautiful. Steering wheel has the typical cracks but it's repairable. Has the original door edge guards still in place.

Body - Some surface rust and scale but overall this is a really nice, solid car. The worst spot is on the passenger side quarter panel behind the rear wheel. I have a beautiful, straight rust free repair piece so no need tofabricate something and pack it with filler. As you can see from the pictures the trunk floor spare tire well is nice and solid (usually these are rotted out). Original jack and handle still in place. Frameis good and solid. Doors are solid. There is a dent in the lower driver's side fender but it should straighten withouta need forfiller. Bumpers are great re-chrome candidates. Front does have some surface scale but it is good and solid and straight. Rear is clean but it does have a flat dent below the left tail light. There is a small chip in the windshield.

Mechanical - After purchasing as a non-running car, I towed it home, pulled the plugs, fogged the cylinders, gave it an oil change, checked all the other fluids, fresh fuel, did a simple tune up (plugs, rotor, cap, new coil) rebuilt the carb and it fired right up. I last drove the car inspring of last year. It ran great, shifted up and down through all the gears but the brakes became spongy, so I parked it until I was ready to start the restoration. I purchased a new master cylinder, brake lines, wheel cylinders, etc. The front cylinders are installed but that's as far as I got. I had routinely run the car to keep the fluids moving, but last fall the number 2 cylinders' intake valve stuck partially open. I purchased a set of correct 425 heads and had them completely rebuilt. These have not been installed and will come with the car. It needs fuel lines. It has a large enough leak in it somewhere to the point it is sucking air and will not run unless diverted at the pump off of a gas can. The electrical system is all in working order. All lamps, the horn, power windows, turn signals, headlamp motor, blower motor, power antennae, tail lights work. I tried the AM radio but it's not working. I do have a spare, correct unit that comes with the car. The rear pinion seal has a leak but I intended on swapping the open rear end out for the limited slip unit I have for it.

New/Extra Parts - All four Rally wheels have brand new tires on them. As I noted earlier, I have a fresh set of completely rebuilt heads ready to bolt on. I also have a complete, working 67' grill with lamps. I have new brake lines, new full exhaust system, extra AM radio, vintage reverb unit, floor shifter, vinyl top moldings, correct rally wheel centers, spare gas tank, fuel sending unit, and a limited-slip from a 67' Riviera GS (drum to drum).

This is a very complete and original unmolested car I can't keep anymore and I just can't justify parting out. I even have the original GM keys with the key cut numbers on them. No need to go searching for that needle in a haystack. Value on just the parts alone (fresh heads, new exhaust, wheels/tires, limited slip rear, plus all the other goodies) exceeds what I'm asking for the car. I have it reasonably priced with no reserve.

The car will need to be trailered as the brakes are inoperable and the fuel line leaks. I have a flatbed trailer and may be able to assist with delivery within reason. Arrangements to see the car before bidding are encouraged.
