1963 Volvo PV544 Sport

Original 4 cylinder B18 engine with 95hp (2 x 1bbl SU carburetors)

The PV model Volvo which was introduced in 1947 as a 444 was said to be a smaller version of a 1942 Ford. The 544 was introduced in 1958 and its production ran until 1965. Still very little had changed in its appearance much like the VW of the same period.

This PV544 Sport is an excellent example of the best of the PVs. This lil Volvo has never undergone a full restoration although changes, maintenance and fixes were made as needed. This PV is in good shape today and has been throughout its life! The paint was refinished in Volvo's Blue color many years ago and it still looks good for a driver Qualitly Classic. Under close inspection, you will find some minor imperfections from road running which should be expected from a 54 year old car. With that said, this is far better than a ten footer. Bumpers are in great condition although the front bumper shows some hazing as seen in the photos. This is literally a No Rust car which is quite unusual for these Volvos. Someone took real good car of their PV. Both floors where patched at some time.

For the interior, The seating has been refinished front and back including new inner padding for complete comfort. This is a super clean and honest car that was very well maintained by the long time previous owner. All features work perfectly including all lights inside and out, all gauges, the speedometer, odometer, wipers, heater and a upgraded radio was installed. Shifting is smooth and easy. All windows roll up and down easily. All glass looks original and clear.

The original B18 4-cylinder 95hp engine is unstoppable and quite powerful for its day and size. The 2 x 1-barrel SU carburetors are tuned to perfection. The engine starts, runs and drives beautifully. The Synchromesh 4-speed transmission shifts as it should. With five oversized main bearings, these PV544s never seem to wear out. Other positives to the PV544 are that they are extremely easy to maintain and parts are affordable and available when needed. Nothing is needed so you can get in and drive her home to Anywhere USA. These cars can easily keep up with todays traffic and can be used every day if preferred.

Overall, this Volvo is actually fun to drive anywhere. They are safe and reliable and are rarely seen on the road today but when you see one, you know it. It certainly draws a crowd from Volvo enthusiasts but all others join the crowd as well. See for yourself! Come on in for a test run or call us at 856-521-0832.
