Car description

1990 Volvo 240 Sedan Only 61,100 miles! 244 Automatic

Up for sale is a beautiful, smoke-free, low-mileage 1990 240. This blue-on-blue beauty is all original and in great shape. The second owner purchased the car in 1992 and retained it until she passed away this year. I am selling it on consignment for the owner’s family. The car is a reliable strong runner.

While it is in terrific low-mileage condition, there are a few noteworthy flaws with the car. The main problem is that at some point, the car was lifted off the ground without using the correct jacking points. This has resulted in a large puncture hole in the driver’s side floor, dents in the floor pan including some separation of the pan from the frame, and crushing of the rocker panel drip edge in spots on each side. I have detailed the flaws in the photos. There is very minimal surface rust on the car primarily in the usual spots, around the wheel wells, as well as some around the damage caused by the improper lift. In addition to the problems with the floor, the AC does not work and I have not dug deeper to find out why. The car needs 4 new tires. There is a chip in the paint on the hood. There is a crack in the e-brake console, but it is still strong. The rear muffler has a crack in it and will need to be replaced or repaired.

Now that we have the negatives described, here are the positives! The car was maintained and well-cared for. It has a new battery. It was primarily garage kept and seldom driven in the winter. The corners of the doors are clean, rust free. The seats are in great shape. The car has all the signs of being a low-mileage gem. The original radio works. The car drives well, smooth and steady. Cruise control still works. Both door pockets are included, the left has been repaired for a crack. The headlights are clear without yellowing or “sandblasting” from high miles. Under the hood looks good, even the under-hood light still works. It even includes the original window sticker!

Overall this car is great to look at, a pleasure to drive, and in very good condition. It is a strong runner and reliable. The flaws with this car could be addressed relatively easily and without too high a cost. 240’s with low mileage are regularly commanding high prices and this one will surely increase in value with those items addressed. If you have always wanted a low mileage 240, this is your chance.

I have described the car as best as I could. As a seller, I am more interested in pointing out the flaws than saying how great the car is. That said, the car is great and I think the pictures can speak for themselves. Please feel free to ask questions and request specific pictures.

The buyer is responsible for picking up the car or arranging for a shipper within 14 days of the auction end.
