Car description

Was it Chaucer who said "all good things must come to and end,"if so parting witha bus must have been what he was referring too because it's been an incredible ride to say the least but time for a new caretaker.Got myfirst bus in the mid 80'swhich was a 73 automatic and although I had differentmanual buses throughoutthe years my heart was set on another automatic preferably with a sunroof which wasn't easy to findbut when I did I had plans in mind to make her my own and that I did I hope you like it !!There's nothing like the feeling of holding a cup of coffee while cruising in a bus not having to reach down and go through those long shifts,to me an automatic makes for ultimate bus driving. The automatictransmissions are3 speedand very well built making them super reliable andwith the final driveat the samerpm'sas manualscruising at70-75 mph feels great not feeling like you're taxing the revolutions you loose 2-3 miles per gallon but the trade off is more than worth it. The previous owner said when I bought it that the transmission was rebuilt and it shifts beautifully with no reason to doubt butno paperwork available to verify. It's been ultra dependablealways starts on the first key turn but not without a pricehaving learned the hard way byexperience back in the day what to doand not to do to insureit's worthy andreliablefor any trip regardless the distance. The paint was just polished andall new window seals put in so there's no air infiltration sound, windshield was replaced a few years ago, tires are near new, complete tune-up is fairly recent and brakes, suspension, exhaust etc all work greatwith all maintenance always done regularly and some preventative things at the suggestion of my mechanic (unfortunately now retired but being a bus driver himself.) Being in CA most ofit's life there isn't any rustand almost just as importantlynorepaired rust,it hasall the factory tack welds crisp and presentclearly with no signs of any rust repair anywhere including of course the frame which is rock solidnothing that's been welde, repaired or replaced if you chip away a little paint in the wheel wells the factory paint shines like new. I had it repainted a few years ago as well as the interior refurbished withnew floor etc. I really don't likethefeeling of worn seat springs and wanted a super nice interior so it's allreally nice, the headlinerhada few tears that I repaired with glue and some I stitched with marine threadit's nice and white with no yellowing soI didn't feel the need to replace it.The sunroof is plain awesome and being fully manual it doesn't need maintenance except for checking the drainage tubes periodically down at jack support on each side there's a drainage hole easy to check and see if it's clogged. Everything functions as it should always starting on the first key turn and idling perfectly, shifts smooth with plenty of pep, the muffler is oem german and fairly new so it hasthat distinct bus sound rather than something aftermarket that masks the sound of a stock bus exhaust which I love. The mirrors and stainless steel originals in great shape not the cheaply made reproductions, all turn signal and tail light lenses are Hella original but there is a minor crack in the right side turn signal lens, nice clean dash without any cracks, door and window seals are German made not Brazilian which are OK but not near the quality of german ones. It's never been in an accident which I know because until I had it repainted the paint was factory with no damage or repaired damage/rust. Some of the pictures showvarying shades of paint whichI retook many timestrying to correct but dueto the different positions of the sun or lack thereof (being 20 degrees out) just couldn't get the accurate shade on some but in person it's extremely nic, very glossy without any fadin, nicks or scratches that were touched up no blemishes at all. It's kept in the garage and I'm very careful when parking close to other cars. Here in the northeast it's not really feasible to drive a bus everyday so she hibernates during the winter but the rest of the time is out and about . It'sbeen nothing short of a thrill to own and drive not to mention the attention and thumbs up it gets so I have no doubt the newowner will love it. If you're not local and need transport let me know I have a friend who hasseveral excellent references for reliable and reasonable shippers so it might not be as much as you might think I can' most likely get you a price the same or next day just email me with the city state and zip code, I'll will gladly help coordinate/facilitate shipping and make myself accessible to assist with pick up regardless of day and time. PLease look closely and ask anyquestions but please don't ask the reserve out of fairness to all. I also ask that you have your finances in order because the $500- deposit is due with five days and the balance shortly thereafter so please bid seriously if you intend to win. Thanks for checking it out and may she go to a welcoming new home !!!!! THERE ARE MORE PICTURES BELOW BUT THE 1ST 24 ARE REPEATS OF ABOVE SORRY BUT THE REMAINING 26 AFTER THAT ARE ALL DIFFERENT. 1977 vw bus Slideshow Image 1 of 51 prev next prev next View All

I forgot to mention in May 16 the carburetors were rebuilt at a local shop it literally starts every time on the first key turn never having to find it's idle purrs every time immediately. It's priced reasonably and is available to be inspected before purchase as well offered for sale elsewhere giving me the opportunity to be sold before the auctions end.
