Car description

1982 Volkswagen Westfalia pop-top camper version with integrated kitchen, complete with refrigerator, a two burner stove, and stainless steel sink with onboard water supply. A fold down rear bench seat converted to a bed and the pop-top includes a padded insert and original cushion creating an upper bed; these models could sleep four adults. See photo of original sticker with type and serial.

Originally a 2.0L (1,970 cc) (70bhp/51kW)air cooled but converted to Subaru 130-hp, 2.2-liter H-4 water cooled. Donor Subaru Legacy wagon had 120K+ on the odometer. Camper showed 56K on the odometer but it was not working when purchased in late 2012.

Subaru engine conversion was done in 2013 using 1984 Vanagon water cooled vehicle for engine cooling and van heating system including both front and rear heaters with control wiring. Opted NOT to cut out the lower grill area in the front but kept the distinctive air cooled appearance.

4 Spd. Manual Transmission with a heavy duty Subaru 2.5L pressure plate/disc.

Vanagon was originally Ivory (L567) we think, but was repainted white by the previous owner.

Full window curtain set with one iron scorch mark/repair on one curtain (!). Console convenience center slides out of the way.

Rotating driver/passenger seat bases.

Z-bed below with factory cushions.

Has working propane Dometic RM215 refrigerator

120v/12v inverter with utility battery charge function, 120V circuit panel wired with 120V outlet inside for convenience appliances.

On-board water tank 12v electric pump works as does the as hand pump. Has domestic water faucet for direct water hose hook-up (use water pressure regulator).

Propane two burner gas cook-top.

Hydro Flame propane heater. Unit fan comes on but igniter does not actuate. Sail switch, fan timer, and gas solenoid all work. If I haven't received the control board by the time the vehicle sells I will ship it to the successful bidder as soon as I receive it.

Upgraded removable face Pioneer radio with CD/USB/Remote Control/Phone link for hands free use.

Interior lighting above cook surface, adjustable spot reading lamps in rear.

Tires have approximately 50% tread remaining.

Top canopy is sound but used. It has one repaired area in the front drivers side where 2-3" tear was patched on the corner. See front top up picture with area circled in red. The fly screens on both sides have a few tears in them but are still in place, possibly repairable.

When the conversion was completed the odometer was repaired and set to zero miles. The conversion now has approximately 25,600 on it and is occasionally driven as a commuter.

Irritant alert: squeaky bushing on passenger side when going over speed bumps, etc.

Includes spare, original jack, and lug wrench.

All paper work that was provided by the conversion supply company will be included.

No vehicle warranties expressed or implied. Title is free and clear with no title brands.
