One owner, super clean,zero rust! excellent candidate for resto. Runs then dies.

Thank you for viewing my listing. I have for sale a super clean, ust free 1986 Cabriolet. I purchased this car from the original owner and have now been informed by my wife that I only need one project VW so this little sweat heart needs a new home. I will add here again, he car runs than dies but the motor sounds healthy and the car was parked running in a garage by the owner but left to sit for 7+years. My reserve is what a feel a fair price for such a clean car would be, his car has so much potential I cannot just let someone "steal" it. Now onto further description of the car.Exterior-The Good-The body is incredibly straight for the year. It has 2-4 small dings but no major dents.This car has zero rust minus a tad under the battery which almost seems inevitable. The paint is a respray the car received prior to my purchase.The paint has a good shine to it and is a nice metal flake but there are scratches on the hood and side I assume from it sitting neglected in the garage of previous owner. The grill, eadlights, nd taillights are in excellent shape as well. The convertible top is very new and has a glass rear window. Windshield and side glass has no cracks or breaks.The Bad- One fender flare is a bit loose and has cracked paint. It is missing some trim but most of it is in the car. And that is it. It is in great external shape.Interior-The Good-The interior is in great shape for the year. Dash and instruments are great and function. It has the factory stereo and a tape changer. The door cards are intact and look very nice. The carpet is like new. The rear seats in in good shape but need a cleaning as do the door cards and the inside of the convertible top. The Bad-The door card plastic has some cracks. The driver seat cloth has a large rip. The driver and pass seats need recovering or at the least seat covers. The rear seat should clean up. One of the cassette changer parts is broken. Other than that the interior is not half bad.Drive train-The Good-It starts and runs albeit for 2-4 seconds. With starting fluid it runs longer and the motor runs smooth and sounds great. The previous owner parked it running and driving and I have to assume the trans/clutch is still good. The exhaust is quiet and sounds good.The Bad-It starts and runs for 2-4 seconds. With out it running I cannot confirm if the trans and clutch are in good shape. I have diagnosed it to be the fuel injection or fuel pump. The cold start injector is what it runs on then when the main injectors should be taking over they don't and it dies. I verified this by unplugging the cold start injector and the car will not start at all. So the issue is no fuel to the main injectors. I have not purchased a fuel pressure tester so that is as far as I have gotten.The brakes also will need to be gone through as the pedal goes to the floor but they did function when I picked the car up.
